Beware AQ HDC3 Issues ??

well too small of a box does increase power handling to a certain extent, it also creates a peak.

in this cases playing roughly 10hz from out of the tuning could have caused the woofer to have too much excursion and rip the spider

its a more likely possibility.

I would think you would be fine, as long as it is a clean signal and the enclosure is close to spec.

lol give the sub a break u paid less then $300 new for it and it sounds great and gets loud and it could handle around 2000 daily with out any problems.....

I have burped my hdc315 on 2200 watts for a str8 45 secs....... didnt even get hot, so to say that it can only take 2k daily I think is a little bit of an understatement.... A lot of ppl on here are running much more to them daily....one being ignoreme IIRC

Edit: this all done on a too small of a box..... tuned to 36

you are right. i ran a kx2500.1 with a birthsheet that rated it at 2960 @ 2 ohms (take it for what you will. i kind of doubt the birthsheets of kicker now, but meh. lets just assume 2500 watts) i ran it daily at that level and the sub took it great. never got smelly or anything.

heres the kicker though, and its a big one....you see the hdc that nate has that had the spider tear apart? thats the HDC i sold him....

edit: we also have to keep in mind, that a 2500w RATED amp, is not giving a subwoofer 2500w daily. at times it will get close to it, but its usually far less than that due to impedance rise, electrical etc etc. you have to have just the right mix of the freq and the amplitude of the freq to get close to the rated power of an amp. not too common in a daily application which is going to be used almost strictly for music which is so dynamic.

ouch...i think if u stick with the rms on it which is 1500..u will be fine for daily..now burps is a different story..
