Ive read read alot about the HDC3's and i thought they might be able to handle the power but obviously i was wrong. Just a precaution to show "What could happen" to your sub if you throw more than rated power to it.

Just //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif this is what happens with 3kw RMS daily.

Pictures are of two 15" HDC3's ONE with Blown coil OTHER with big spider rip

well, considering they aren't exactly rated at 3k.. plus i've yet to see this problem w/anyone else..
i'mma throw the user error flag.
Two different issues

if it was a clipped signal (which it wasn't) then both sub coils should have been toast?

Obviously the spider couldnt handle the excursion and ripped

have you talked to DJ about this yet???

cause if not that would be very uncool of you to say all this stuff before seeing what he could do to help you out

Im uncool.

It is what it is Both subs need recones. When i call to get recones i will see what options i can get to upgrade the sub

I don't see this as an "issue" at all. Companies list specifications on their products for a reason. As an end-user, you should know something would happen when sending 3x the rated power to it...

yeah no shit...user error....3k daily?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif.....not too smart....most are running 2k daily easy tho....something is wrong here...with you....should talk to dj before dissing his product that no one else has had a problem with

I'm not dissing. Great Product! Just pointing out it couldn't take the power.

It was an experiment to see if it could take the power and it failed.

Im not product bashing or company bashing at all im simply pointing out that it will not handle 3kw daily.

It is a end user error for throwing 3kw to it when they are only rated for 1kw

I Am not product bashing NOR am i company bashing. Im not trying to put the company down at all.

I am just saying that be careful as to how much power you throw to your sub. i would not suggest doing 3kw daily.

I guess the title should be labeled differently as i now see where it sounds like i am Company/Product bashing

while you might not be bashing the company/product, the title of the thread alone suggests there's a problem with the sub (that's the reason i clicked the thread myself, to see the problem. but turns out user error ruined a pair of good subs).
