Beware AQ HDC3 Issues ??

If you look at the pics of the coil on the 1 blown sub then you can tell it wasnt burned or anything. The coil will be able to handle the 3k but the suspensions not gonna handle it unless the sub sonic is tuned right. I definitely call these subs blown from bottoming out due to playing below tuning or not running enough SSF. Also if you are messing with these subs and 3kw then you better have an o scope and set the gains conservatively and Listen to what the subs are doing, not just listening in the car but at the actual sub. Listening in the car you can hear the sub so you dont know whats going on. If the HDC3 can take an AB500.1 daily then it should have no prob taking the sundown 3k.

The one subs coil is completely toasted and unraveling. I'd say thats not an issue from bottoming out, but from too much power/playing for too long.

And just to confirm, that is the aluminum flat-wound coil. Thats pretty obvious seeing as the windings are flat.

The copper coil (like DD subs) has a round winding. So he actually had the higher power handling coils as well.

Not to say that the HDC3 is a bad sub though. Very competitively priced.

x2.

Thats the valid point.

This is just retarded abuse of an awesome sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Nah, but I saw with my own eyes, a properly setup system with two hdc3 10's on two saz3000's. Never no problems with them. (DBDesigns)

this is a long and very retarded thread....

with 3kw in that box I'm sure 'clipping' is a non issue..... those subs would blow up or rip apart either way....

copper is much better conductor of heat... aluminum formers are used because they weight less... (the larger flatwound will handle more power, regardless) umm... your saz3000 can't make 4500 watts either... and 8" wire leads are not better then decent push terminals... opps sorry DJ...

those windings are no where near being burned up, the spots that are black is where you are seeing the former!
What in the hell are you talking about?

Those windings are totally jacked and burnt. The windings should all be in line with each other and the same color.

Clearly there are a few that are misaligned and burnt, which leads me to believe that the coil got so hot that it melted the glue that was used and some of the windings actually slid down the former.

3242 Clamped Single amp.. 6321 Strapped CLAMPED watts on a set of 3000D's on 2 10'' HDC3 divide the power by 2 and thats3160 watts CLEAN.. 3weeks of play time and countless demo's Never ever had a problem at all!!!

DJ recommends 40hz+ tuning on his subs, the user tunes to 32 hz not to be an @ss but thats undertuning to me. Like I mentioned before to many variables as to why that happend. I cant wait till I put my 2 AT7000.1s on 2 10's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I agree you cant beat the price on these things especially when they compare to woofers double or triple in price //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
egg
Those btw use to be mine:D glad they are comeing to a good home.. They already had 3k on them and you tell me when you get them if there is anything at all wrong with them..

Sorry for being late..
