I ran my 12 HDC on ab500.1 @ 1ohm for ahhhhh....about 3months, take that for what you will

I i can say i played the crap outta it...lows and all....final metering of 147 legal just a week ago

It would bottom out a tad on the lows.....but id just back off when i hear something that resembled "not......good"

I have not read this whole thread..but from what I saw, It seems nate blew a sub. I am still a noob when it comes to things like knowing how much a sub can take daily above rated power. To the best of my knowlege, The sub in question is rated for 1000 watts rms, 2000 watts max. IMO, if you plan on running 3 times the rated power DAILY to a sub(or any amount over rms rated), then there must be a little voice telling you you MIGHT break something due to abuse. I have no idea how many HDC3 subs DJ has sold, but evidently there is two of them that failed due to the abuse mentioned above. I don't believe nate was dissing AQ, but simply showing us his bad fortune when running them at 3x rms rated power daily. As many of you here have testified, even DJ admitted on his website you CAN burp these during comp at 4400+ watts each, But you will smoke them if you are not careful. From what I did read in this thread, I am wanting to buy 2 HDC3 15's even more...due to the astonishment alot of you have shown due to nate's misfortune. Also, you gotta consider, blowing a sub is 99% has to do with the user.

The sub will let you know when its getting over worked. Smelling of glue, bottoming out ect.

Now with that being said, Nate knew he was going to blow these subs. Maybe he did to prove a point, IDK.

But, It is how some people can run X amount of power to a sub, cause they know when to turn the volume knob down.

It does come down to the end user.

I've given a type-r 10" upwards of 2000 watts, 4 times its rated power, for periods of 30 seconds or more. And that thing only has a 2" coil on it.

But I sure as hell wouldn't recommend that to ANYONE for daily.

i run 2 ab 15's,the hd models which looks just like a hdc3,i also run a ia 40.1 on them daily with no problems,at sbn i won the stock 2 class with a 152 score,tough *** subs no doubt.
