well the speakers face inside the car and i mostly always have the rear seats folded down....so it should be easier to smell anything.

and then i use my ipod and exceed volume gains were set at...

i think they are set around 27-28 out of 36 but im not sure...thats how loud they turned it up to when i picked up the car.

with ipod i put it on 15 for max...any higher and only the door speakers/tweets get louder seems that subs dont go any higher.

change the head unit, get a aftermarket head unit. Just to prove it to you, turn your gains down and use your ipod to reset them. bet you can turn it up past 15 and it'll hit harder than before. I used to have a stock head unit, then got a aftermarket head unit, big difference, night and day.
