Two 12" Qs vs. One 12" BTL

I've narrowed my choices down to two set-ups. I can run either two 12" Fi Qs in a ported box tuned to around 32-33Hz. It would be a 4-5 cu. ft. enclosure.

Or

A single 12" BTL about the same size enclosure tuned to roughly the same thing. Which ever system I get will be powered my an Orion 2500d. So I'm sending it 2500 watts at 1 ohm. Which would you choose?

My prior system was a single 12" RE SX powered by a RE 12.1 amp. I loved it. But eventually I wanted louder, so thats why I'm upgrading. I want something louder than my SX but still sounds good for a daily driver. What do you guys recommend?

At first that was my thought. A single 12 that gets as loud as some people's dual woofer set-ups would be a nice wow factor. But alot of people are telling me the Qs will get maybe a little louder. I would be getting a fully loaded BTL just so you know.

Well your going to have to get the 1 ohm version then because if you upgrade you can run them at 1 ohm. I was thinking the same, but if you get the 1 ohm now, I wouldn't be sending it the correct amount of power so what gives...

Anybody have any recommendations or opinions?

With that kinda power the Q's will be louder IMHO but say if you added another 2500d the BTL would be the way to go. I would say the Q's would be louder with 3500watts and down and BTL with 3501 and up.

I basicly kinda had the same question and that was the answer I got.

It should come down to room and power. Then decided. If you got the room to do 2 12s ported correctly do that. If not the BTL is the way to go.

Alright. Just to clarify, I'm pretty sure the 2500D does 2500 watts, not 3500. I may be wrong but thats the numbers I've seen. I don't think I'd add another BTL, because my electrical system definantly couldn't handle another 2500D and I don't have that kind of space two would need. So it looks like the two Qs win. I just hope I won't be disappointed.

I guess you misunderstood my post. I meant 2 12 Qs if you had the space.. not 2 12 BTLs. And also I didnt mean your 2500d did 3500, just sayin that the Qs would be louder until that point in power. And prolly after that the BTL would be able to take the power and prolly be louder.

I guess I also should of clarified a little better. I was refering to memphis10 when I said two BTLs would be too much. Everything is understood now. I'm still weighing out my options but the Qs seem to be leaning in my favor.

I'd say the two Q 12"s should get a fair bit louder seeing as you'll be giving each one 1000-1250w RMS...the BTL 12" would be the choice if you could give it atleast 3500w RMS.

Go with the Q's and if you don't like them you can always sell them and save jus a few more buck to get a 12" BTL with all options (all options incase you decide to upgrade your electrical and buy a second 2500D

I am glad to see this thread since i was thinking of the same thing....

So 2 Q's> 1 BTL with 1-3000 watts?

only bad part is now i gotta save a lil more to get the 2 Q's.

This is the 3rd thread ive seen today,

2 FiQ vs 1 BTL

you people got to learn how to search.

I say another thread like this, BAN them lol
