Better Sound Quality?

I have a Zune with every song at 192 kbps or higher. Usually I'll just plug them into the aux input on my head unit but, if I burn a CD with the same exact song it sounds more clear. Can anyone explain this?
simple, if you were running your zune on a HU that bypassed the DAC the quality would be equal to the cd's. however you are not using a usb hu you are using the aux port which lets the zune do the converting instead of the hu, thus the sound is not as great. make sense?

u didnt say what HU u have, but if it has a usb slot, i recommend getting a flash drive and putting 320kbps songs on it. i bought a cheap 8gb, have a couple hundred 320kbps songs on it and its not even half full, and they sound great.

so the digital-to-analog converter on the head unit is better than that on the MP3 player is what you're saying right?

Wow, congratulations on your 11,363 post. I hope they all came from useless comments such as that one.
They were. He's a 'tard.

Not all Mp3's are equal, not all digital converters are equal. Personally I don't like any mp3 crap, but you can get decent quality if you watch the conversions. Your converting from digital to analog, back to digital, back to analog. Too many conversions. Also simply replacing your mini jack cable may improve your sound, maybe not.

If your burning wave files, it will always slaughter the sound of any mp3. But as stated above, a cd will provide your HU with a digital to digital transfer, which should be much cleaner.

I live an mp3 free lifestyle. I'm a snob.

The cd is digital to digital. It's not converted to analog until it's leaving the HU. That's the cleanest method. The 1/8" in jack is analog. So your zune is converting from digital to analog, then your Hu converts that back to digital, which eventually is converted back to analog. Too many steps. Sometimes it works, sometimes it sounds like crap.

Also, set the volume output of your mp3 player to about 70%. Many people have the volume either too low or too high. That will effect your SQ.
