That would work if gasoline was not fungible.

For the idiots out there. Exxon can sell gasoline to China, Japan, Russia, anyone.

Problem is that if this started to work, and Exxon / Mobil gas was 5c a gallon cheaper than Arco, most people would buy the cheaper stuff...

Asking for disipline in the marketplace is never gonna work. Americans are way too selfish for that.

those two companies are the biggest for the simple fact they dont just sell their gas at THEIR STATIONS...they sell to other companies which in turn also sell their gas. it wont work.

BTW, not my idea. This is from an e-mail I got the other day. I allready won't touch Exxon because of the Exxon Valdese(sp). To this day they have not paid for that mess. They have OTOH sold the boat to a different company, but it's still not allowed in Alaskan waters.

We dont even have mobiles over here, and only about 7 exxons. All you see here is Valero on every corner, sometimes right across the street from each other...

I live pretty close to work, I may just hit the back bike trails to work with my mountain bike. That would solve that, its just the rest of the places I go too I would need to figure out.
