best wiring question

just wondering what the best way to wire 2 dvc subs with a mono amp is?

the amp is a alpine mrp-m450:

RMS Power (at 14.4V THD+N, 20Hz-20kHz)

Per channel into 4 ohms: 220W x 1 (0.08% THD)

Per channel into 2 ohms: 400W x 1

the subs are (2) phoenix gold xs104 dvc:

200W rms each (not sure at what resistance), measured ~4 ohm at posts with an ammeter, and i have read one place on the net that said they were 2/8 ohm.??

had a hard time finding any info on these subs since they are fairly old.

i currently have it wired like this:

if the subs are infact 4 ohm, does that mean the amp is only putting out 220W for the both of them? or does the power output of the amp depend on the way you wire the set up? or is there a resistance switch on the amp to change between 4 and 2 ohm?

if anyone can help me understand how to wire these to get the proper power and resistance that i need all around i would really appreciate it.

2 2ohm dvc subs can be wired to a 2ohm load or a .5ohm load [or 8ohm load if you wanna get technical].

you need to find out what ohm ur subs are then you can wire accordingly.

Looks to me like you have DVC 4 ohm subs, so you have them wired up correctly for that amp. With those subs you can have them wired in series (like you have shown in the picture) to get you a 4 ohm load, however, if you wired them in parallel you will end up with a 1 ohm load. What I'm trying to say is that, with that amp your only option is to wire them up at 4 ohms since your amp is stable at 1 ohm. To change this you will need to get new subs that are DVC 2 ohm subs and wire them in series, which will get you a 2 ohm load to get the full power out of that amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

fixed

This picture might be more easier to understand.

ok, so right now i have a 4 ohm load on my amp. does that mean it is putting out the 220W RMS (as the amp says it can do at 4 ohm) to both subs, as in 110W to each sub? im not sure if the power gets divided by 2 when hooked up this way or not.

can anyone clarify this for me?
