Another idea for if she's into the whole Christmas thing: Wait till she falls asleep on Christmas eve, and put the ring on her while she's sleeping. anyways.... put some thought into it... be romantic, you are going to be her husband..if you have got to this point you probably know her well enough to go off your instincts.

Proposing on a holiday is a great idea IMO (as long as it is a holiday she likes) that way when that special time of the year comes around she will remember and cherish the day you Proposed... IMO...if a man were to propose on or around my favorite holiday it would make this time of the year even that much MORE special for me.

BUT! DON'T get married on a holiday...THATS CHEESY!

I wouldn't propose on Christmas's, seems cheesy. Same goes for valentines day. How old are you? Should you even be proposing to someone?
I'm going to propose on a small Chinese boat in the Yangtze river, preferably in front of Fengdu. But thats not for a long time down the road

take it a step further by making your own special teddy bear (like the Build-a-Bear stores you find in the mall)... put a tux on him, record your voice saying, "will you marry me?" and tie a ring in the palm of it's hand.... that would make me go all weak in the knees-- how cute! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/inlove.gif.6846f78f06b405429ef3a00129788a2a.gif

We just came back from buildabear actually I had my daughters girlscout troop do a day there so they all got their own bear. (daughter did a cat though since she already had 3 bears)

when i get to that point, i would love nothing more than to propose on a vacation in australia out in a remote location. like during a festival or at night under the stars. something.

or have one of your young cousins (female around 4 or 5 maybe?) bring over a box with a note in it and have the ring hidden in your sock or shoe and act like you gotta tie your shoe when she comes over and then propose right there.

one comment about the build a bear..I took my nephew out shopping for his girlfriend last night and we just HAD to go in there..(the best way to torture a 16 year old I found out) but the little butt kept grabbing the un-stuffed bears and saying "LOOK MA! ROADKILL!" Thank gawd there were no little kids in there last night! HAHAHA
