best tunning to hit all frequencies

assuming this is a 12 then ur box is simply just to big this explains the nice lows but poor top end.

I used to purposely build my boxes a little big so i could get more low end extension but at the sacrifice of the 80-100hz range. usually only a small decrease tho compared to the gain in the lows.

Currently ive been having a problem with my top end hitting to hard and distorting really bad but thats a different issue.

my 15 brahma is in, 4.8cu/ft tuned to 28hz, it seems almost invisible at about the 70hz and above, even 50hz aren't too loud, but the lows are amazing.

really need to know what size sub

RE MX 12 has a Fs 23hz so for a fairly flat responce i would do 2cubes @ 27hz that should take the peak out of the bandwidth and give u a even loudness to ur bass

but the sub has 22mm of xmax so be sure to alow atleast 30sq of port

As though you know how to design a box or something. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

im getting some really good help here. thanks a lot.

i was having a hard *** **** time finishing my set up and now that all connections are good i want it sounding good.

yeah on my drive to school this morning i listened to different songs, and yeah the box hits the lows really well but not any other notes that my other subs hit easily.

its a 12" RE MX. have a 1500 watt clarion amp going to it, but i have the gain set to only about 1/4, at least while i break this baby in. idk if gain higher would help, but yeah sub is definitely misisng a lot of notes.

3.2 cubes which should be tuned at about 35 hz.

can anyone help me figure out if i did my aero port calculations right, maybe thats whats ****ing the box over. first i want to try to figure that out and if i got the aeros in right then i will get a smaller sized box and see if that works. i should be more happy with a RE mx than a tiny 12" jl w3

=(

it might be in a complete different category, but i have a jbl in my room (home theatre sub) and i love it! its loud and ive heard very fiew songs that it cant reproduce like it should. i wish i could get a box built like that. it ported (aero) so i know its not a sealed thats getting a flatter response.

Before you waste your time with that video, realize that a microphone tcannot pick up that amount of sound pressure without distorting. What that means is, while we can tell the difference in the frequencies, all sounds from your subwoofer will simply sound distorted anyway. Look here:

The W6V2 is one of the best SQ subs money can buy, overpriced or not. That isn't what they sound like in person.

il post a vid today so you guys can hear it. i tried posting one up a few days ago but stupid youtube removed my audio.il post a vid tonight! thanks for the help !
ya i wouldnt waste ur time with a vid... i can work u up a design that will suite ur needs if u would like just hit the contact link in my signature

lol

yeah i know i didnt have to waste my time with the vid. took it anyways, it wasnt a bother. been wanting to upload some for my build log thread anyways.

well this is a little ghetto video. i hate when people take vids and they dont even make them good. well i ended up making it shitty. didnt have time to do a good one. only about 30 secs.

so 3.2 cubes at "35 hz" still not sure if my aero math was done right. i cant explain how hard of a time i went through to get the aero sizes and even then i had a lot of people telling me they were wrong and everyone was giving me diff numbers. its been a couple of days of playing the mx and yeah i am pretty disappointed, so i definitely do want to fix this.

before anyone gives me shit about the vid. yes, i know the sub is barely even flexing. volume was not loud, amp gain is 1/4 of the way (zero bass bost) and HU subwoofer level is less than 0, so that explains the low flex. also, as i mentioned, im barely breaking it in, so i rather not try anything crazy and blow this ****er. not yet. lol . just took the vid as a hope for at least a little bit of encouragement for you guys to help

thanks!

thanks mobeious. how much do you charge for box designs?

mine is pretty simple and i think i just need to find out if my aeros are correct, so it should be pretty easy (for someone who really knows anyways). and i already have the box so i dont know if you would need to go through a whole box design

thanks

3/4 mdf.

haha. no its not mdf. its plywood.

yeah yeah i know boxes should be made out of mdf.

but i told my dad to get some mdf (he does construction) and he brought back some plywood to try. its 3/4 thick, but not mdf.

seems to be fine. i was actually wondering if plywood would have an effect on the sound. i dont think it should other than how strong it is.

Yes it does. something about resonance. or how ever you spell it. Other people will know more. sry I'm not much help...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
