built a box for a RE audio mx. and just dropped it into the trunk.

the lows hit real well but other notes dont hit so well.

i got it in a 3.2 cubes at 35hz with aero ports.

it was my first box built so i think it might be that i didnt do such a good job on box.

or should i get it tuned to something else? i have a 12 w3v3 jl in a prefab box and i think that thing was hitting cleaner =(

some subs dont like high bass notes like 100hz up. your jl box can hit a wider range sure as smaller driver/cone and its lighter cone so moves easier so wider range of freq.

if you crossover the box right at 24db crossover at 80hz for sub and 24hz at 80-100hz for mids it should sound sweet and bring your mids bass down to like 80hz could help your sound stage

or try a sealed box

thanks for all the help.

yeah, this is my first system (other than just subs) so im not very good at tunning everything yet.

i will look into that for sure, since now that i got it all in i want it to sound as good as possible

my 2 aeros are 4" wide and 15" long. (i built the box a while ago so **** i think i might have forgotten the length. but im pretty sure it was about 15 in length). i had a REALLY hard time finding out what size for aeros. everyone on here gave me diff info and supposedly ever aero calc out there is completely off. idk what wthe exact way to find aero measurements is.

and yeah i got some diamond d6's. but now ive heard that they lack midbass, so it might be the speakers also.

thanks for all the help guys, this actually helped me alot. if you guys got any more help let me know. thanks! il post up a vid and sopme pics of the install. i had a thread going, but it got old after i was having trouble finishing everything up. i guess all i need is some good fine tunning and this thing will be up and running!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Not true, my friend. Not true. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanks for the help.

i dont have a design. i pretty much just got the box put together by drawings. and some help i got on here.

but anyways,

just a regular rectanlge shaped box:

31" length

20" deep

14" height

and two 4" aeros 15" long. the only thing that im thinking could have screwed me up was that i had to use a pvc elbow to make one of the aeros fit.

yeah the website suggests like 2 cubes.

but thats very small i would think. some people gave me shit on here saying i was trying to outsmart the manufacture itself by me saying it needed a bigger box. but everyone on here with these subs say they sound better and need bigger boxes. the box is one ft3 more than re audio suggests. they suggest 2.2 at optimal i think. either 2.2 or 2

My guess would be, if it's a 12, then 3.2 cubes isn't crazy, but it's a little larger than optimal. Although big boxes are efficient and can get loud off of less power, they tend to have a larger peak. If your sub+box+car combo just so happens to peak down really low, then that's not helping. Try a smaller net volume tuned slightly higher. Maybe 2.25 cubes @ 36-38Hz. You'll get not only a flatter response and hit the notes up higher a little easier, but you'll have greater power handling on the sub mechanically as well. 3.2 seems a bit big for a 12.

If it's a 15, then 3.2 is small. Need at least 4-5 cubes.
