best subs for the $$

Ok I am looking at getting 2 10s that will handle between 400-550 Rms I looked in to 2 alpine type Rs but I heard from some people that there are better deals out there I don’t want to spend over $350 on the 2 of them they will be going in to a sealed box Right now I have 2 12 in dubs with a 1000 watt profile Baja amp I would like to keep the amp because I really like it any help would be great

First, the Profile amp isn't going to put out that amount of power. I'm guessing you have the HA1000, which is rated for 160W x 2 @ 4, 240W x 2 @ 2, and 480W x 1 @ 4. Your best bet would be to get a new amplifier that is more suitable for the subs you currently have than to get 2 subs that are rated for something that this amp can't even put out, so you'd be very disappointed, and either clip the signal to get 'more' output or have to buy a new amp anyway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You're gonna hate this, but upgrading the amp is your best route.

It doesn't make a thousand watts.

I will be using DVC subs so I can bridge the amp my subs handal 400 RMs and my amp puts out 480 Rms

Get one DD 512 in a ported box....It will play louder and hit lower than the 2 subs you have ...and will run within your price range....

Exactly, your amp puts out 480WRMS, your 2 subs handle 400WRMS EACH, so 2 x 400WRMS = 800WRMS. Or we can put it this way, 480WRMS/2 = 240WRMS that each sub is seeing.

Not going to work for his application, he needs either 2 200WRMS woofers, or a single 400WRMS woofer.

ok I have both of my subs wired at 8 ohms then hooked to a bridged 2 channel amp which puts out 480 watts X 1 at 4 ohms so how am I not geting 480 rms to each sub

Simple - the amp doesn't do 480w into 8 ohms, it does it into 4 ohms.

So it does ~240 into 8 ohms.

So each sub is getting ~120.

So much for a thousand watts huh

I have 2 subs at 8 ohms each wired to a briged 2 channel amp 1/2 of 8 is 4 I am runing 2 subs at 8 ohms each which makes a 4 ohm load on the amp

because when you hook up 2 subs it splits the power..........1 sub hooked up would be getting the full 480 watts

I just picked up a Kenwood KAC-9152D mono amp so I have a little more power now I can do up 900 wattsX2 at 4 ohms with dual mono drive so my dubs wont handle it
