BEST SQ Headunit??

Will here is my list. You have already using the audio control, so you are just looking for a Clean SQ deck. Here are the dead heads that are very nice for SQ:

Alpine:

7909 and/or 7909L, 7949, 7990

Eclipse Units:

ECD-415, 416, 510, and 5303R

Pioneer:

If you can for the old M88 this thing is great

Kenwood:

KDC-PS905, KDC-PS907, KDCPS911

Denon:

DCT-Z1, R1, R10, 1000, and A1

Rockford:

8250, 8240, and 8140 (this you will be surprised)

Clarion:

DRX9255, HX-D1, DRX9255L

MAC's:

406, 406s, MX4000 w/ MD4000, MX5000

Panasonic:

The Panny tube driver headunit, I forget the model number

Sony:

C90 and maybe the C900

Now with processing built in:

Clarion:

DRZ9255, Clarion had an old unit like the ODR, XES stuff, but can't remember the model number, ADSC1 or something like that.

There is some more let me think some more.

Eclipse:

8053, 8443

Pioneer:

880prs, 800prs, DEXP9 w/ DEQP9 and/or any of the older ODR stuff

Sony:

C90 w/ 4000 processor, XES(P1, X1, T1) or the next gen XES after will have to find the model numbers

Alpine:

any of the F#1 stuff

any of the the units with the H701

Thats a pretty impressive list. Having owned or used pretty extensively about 20 of those units I can say with confidence that they are all not in the same league.

All excellent radios no doubt but only a few would get my nod for sq purposes.

Now doubt different levels, but so is SQ, especially when your on a budget.

What ones would be your pick, Just wondering because I have a my list also, from money one object to the budget. Care to share;)

If I'm not mistaken the nak does not have any active capable processing on board so if you wanted to go active with your crossovers you'd need an external crossover... but I'm not completely sure, if that's a factor for you, then thats something to think about, but I'm sure you already know that...

Alpine:

Good decks, Just not for me Owned 7909, 7939, 7949, 7998. 7949 was my fave though

Eclipse Units:

5509 is my favorite Eclipse deck; 8455 is close second than the 5303 and 510

Ecd 410 was my first deck.

Pioneer:

p9 combo even though I know its mentioned at the bottom. Never liked any of the others. Buddy had a p1r that I liked though but cant say it would have a place in my vehicle.

Kenwood:

Not all that familiar with the Kenwoods. Brother loves his excelon so obviously not bad, just not what I would think of for sq.

Denon:

DCT-Z1, R1, R10, 1000, and A1 cant go wrong with any of these.

Rockford:

8250, 8240, and 8140 (this you will be surprised) The denfords are pretty nice but wouldnt be a pick of mine. Not a fan at all of the 8140 plus ugly imo. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Clarion:

Never been impressed with any clarion deck except for the drz

MAC's:

406, 406s, MX4000 w/ MD4000, MX5000 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/drool.gif.b5e863e893038027711d4402f340dad0.gif Although imo only look good in muscle cars and some german cars. The mx4000 combo being my fav of course. True sq deck

Panasonic:

The Panny tube driver headunit, I forget the model number. Never had experience but heard good things. Would love to try out.

Sony:

C90 and maybe the C900 Some swear by the c-90. I wasnt a fan. Only had my for about 6 months before I got rid of it. (I was only 17 though)

My fave deck: Z1. Love the looks and sound. 2nd: Mc mx 4000 for sound, never could justify with my dash though. 3rd. F#1 with procosser. Nice transport by itself but would go another route if werent using processor. Tied for 4th. Transport only, drz9255. Processor, p9 combo. The Nak would probably be next.

On a budget I would go newer Eclipse. The 7200 looks pretty promising.

Note this is very subjective. Just happen to be my choices. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ok here are mine, in specific oder:

Aways want a Alpine 7909, has to be the most sort after unit in history of car audio history.

Now the Eclipse are some of my favorite SQ no frills decks. Love the died heads 415, 416, and 510. All the same decks just with digital outs on the 416 and 510. I like the 414, but spec are only slightly different with a built amp. I want a 5303r so I can put it to the test, I've listen to few it was very nice as i recall. I played with a 8053 in a customer car and i like it alot, just didn't have time to really get a indepth listen (got one on the way to me now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif)

Pioneer M88 I want one these things bad.

Kenwood , funny my first highend deck was one the PS903 I think it was the model ran it into a Kenwood P110 half din DSP and man I love the sound of this system won me a few awards when was stationed in Panama City, Panama and I competed in IASCA there. Beat some guys with some really highend system too.

Denon any thing by this company

My I love the DRZ9255

I love the Sony XES systems I had the P1,T1, X1 andC1 system. I still dream of having a XES Z50 set (man I remember the model)

Give me any thing ODR and I will be happy

Have really played with the Nak's CD700's, I've only listen to one in system that should have not had it in it. The deck was givin to the guy by a friend it was the CD700II. Man I love the looks of it.

Cant go wrong with any of those I dont think. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I forgot about odr stuff. Havent used it much but would definitely have a place near the top of my list.

For the most dynamic yet transparent of my collection I would have to go ..

PioneerODR.jpg

PioneerODR2.jpg

Adding video/DVD-A and still ultimate in flexibility..

DVIandPXI.jpg

Gets an honorable mention in this category of processing and simplicity..

Take out the processing ..
