Best Speakers for $$$

I am looking to uprgade my sound system on my new car. I already have subs. Im looking for a pair of 4x6's and a pair of 6x9's. Depth is 2 1/2". I don't need anything spectacular. I'm just looking for something that sounds good with my HU. Apline CDE-7859. This HU sends 45wx4. Im not looking for outstanding sound.....or else i would hook an amp to these. I know you will say i should hook an amp up to them...but please dont suggest that because Im not willing to do it. Im just looking to replace the stock speakers. So looking for speakers that will run well with the 45 watts a piece. Money is a big issue here!! Im looking to spend around $260 overall....if thats possible. Just let me know. Thanks.

Your not going to get anything close to 45w out of your HU, just FYI. Pioneers usually do fairly well off of little power. If you want something with better future possiblilities, try Infinity or MB Quart.

People don't tend to mind Blaupunkt as a "bang for the buck" company.

I don't plan on ever amping these. Would a pair of pioneers sound just as good as the mb quarts or infinitys if i dont amp them?? Also, send me websites with good deals on these speakers. Once again, Im trying to stay as cheap as possible...Im not looking for competition quality...just something that will stay clear when it gets loud...something that wone blow and can get loud unlike my stock speakers.

Pioneers in my experience run the best with no amp, just off of the HU. Get you some of them. Make sure you don't get the pioneers that take alot of power! There are like 2 different levels of pioneer, stay at the bottom.

Well i think you can get some good quality products for under your 260 budget if you buy off the internet and then install them your self.

I have the infinity reference series in my car. I dont have them amped, and i'm pretty happy with the sound. i replaced them because my stock speakers were the worst things i've ever heard and i just wanted it to sound alright, and they do.

you can get 6x9s on http://www.ikesound.com

78$ shiped for the 2ways

and 90$ shiped for the 3ways

i'm pretty sure they dont make a 4X6, at least i havent seen them

but .

I'm planning on amping mine soon because they distort at loud volumes(about 3/4 as loud as it goes.

Make sure you don't get the pioneers that take alot of power! There are like 2 different levels of pioneer, stay at the bottom.
Will they still sound good without distorting, even though they are the bottom line speakers? Can i crank it up loud without them distorting? I guess I dont really care how "loud" they get...but I really don't want distortion.

Really cheap Pioneer 6x9's...

http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=piotsa6975

Is that what you think i should get??? I can't believe they would sound good at that price

$60 for both...lol

These for 4x6's...???

http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=pioTSA4612

$35 for a pair.

I would be really happy if these worked well in my car...because it would come out around $100...which is alot cheaper then i thought. Let me know what you guys think? If there are ones that would fit me better...please let me know.

that 45 x 4 is peak power, rms is around 22

I highly recommend amping them

brands I would listen to:

alpine

infinity

jl

then checkout ebay...you can also find a good 4 channel amp for cheap...jbl 80.4 at ikes and my alpine is on ebay I think

22 rms at best I would say, probably a little lower. I wouldn't push the amp thing, some people are just completely against the idea, no matter if the price comes out the same or not. But I would run Infinity Reference on the JBL.

yeah pioneers are good speakers without amplification.. good midbass and decent highs.. Polk are decent also, and infinity's are good..

Hey i konw you came on here to ask a question about what speakers to get.. but if you dont mind me asking, how are the jl w6v2's? they look awesome. Also, how much did you get them for and from where?

Its not the fact of me having to pay the money for the amp. It's what it will do to my electrical system. I just got a new car and don't want it to strain it at all. I will be running a JBL 600.1 for my sub. Say I was to get the JBL 80.4...how many amps would that draw?? How would having both those amps run on my electrical system do? Thats the reason i was saying I don't want to amp them. I'm not looking for extremely great sound.....just good sound with no distortion. So please don't say get an amp. Sp do you guys think that those cheap Pioneers would cut it...or no?? Leave me some feedback

Wolfey: I love the w6v2's. Unfortunately i could never hear them at full power with a 1200.1 because my car couldn't handle it. I had the gain at about half all the time and they pounded. With my old subs...people would say they could hear me coming down the street....with these subs people say they could hear me from blocks away...and that was in a 94 buick regal which has a thick trunk....imagine that in a small car. Because I got a new car...I am selling one of them and just running one off of a JBL 600.1 so it doesnt damage my electrical system. I paid $320 for mine at a local shop...I am willing to sell one if anybody is interested. I have 1 offer for $200 + shipping. Let me know.

well I don't know how many amps that 80.4 would draw, but it's only 160 watts (4 x 40) rms, so I can't really see it hurting your electrical system at all

without an external amp you won't be able to turn your speakers up as loud before they start distorting

BUT like wesleysh said, I'm not goin push the issue

So you are saying...no matter what speaker i choose...they will distort at high volumes??? Would a speaker that is set at a lower rms rating be able to go louder without distorting??? You are all saying that i should get an amp...so yeah listen to wesleyah and dont try to push an amp. Just tell me what i should do for speakers without an amp?? I just dont understand if i should go with a better speaker or one that can't handle as much power??? If they all are going to distort at the same volume level...maybe i should go with a better speaker so it will sound better at the lower volumes. Thanks for all the help so far everybody...but i still don't completely understand.

amped speakers will get MUCH louder before they distort. if you got the jbl 80.4, it would draw less than 10 amps to run the highs...and even with a 1200.1 in there also, as long as you watch your gains, i wouldnt worry about doing damage to the electrical system. just make sure you upgrade the battery to ground, battery to alt, and alt to ground wires to 1 size larger than your power wire (ie use 2 gauge to upgrade those if you use 4 gauge for your amps).

dont worry about the current draw thing, at worst youll have some dimming if youre careful...but if you upgrade those other wires, you shouldnt have any problems, even at higher volumes.

eric

i wouldnt worry about damaging your electrical system either.. i have a shitty little 95 ford escort and my electrical system was fine.. If you are getting a 600.1 now instead of a 1200.1 that wont draw very much power.. the 1200.1 only draws a little over 100 amps at most.. and most of the time while you are playing it, it will only be drawing like less than 50 amps.. and an amp for your highs hardly draws any amps . but it helps your speakers perform at higher volumes.. I dont think you have to get an amp though.. But if you have the money go for it, dont be worried about your electrical system until you get like 2000 watts total in your system..

also its not as hard as you might think to upgrade an alternator... with a little bit of help i installed a new one in my car so that my lights wouldnt dim, and i didnt want to mess up my amp, cus i heard 81000d's draw a ton of current so i upped my alternator to a 95 amper from a 70 amp.. (notice how i'm more worried about my system than my car) It cost me 70 bucks but it was well worth it, only took about an hour and a half to put in the alternator.. Now i could do it in about 20 minutes though. Also if you are really worried, see how many amps your alternator you have now puts out.. if its over 75 you should be fine...

is there any place where i can check how many amps my alternator puts out without actually looking at my alternator...because i know very little about cars and don't even know where the alternator is or what it looks like. How much is the jbl 80.4 and where? Say if i were to get that amp...what speakers should i go with it? 6x9's and 4x6's. I'm looking to go as cheap as possible since i wasn't planning on going with an amp, because if i go with another amp i have to buy all new wiring and everything and is going to get very expensive. I would MUCH rather go with no amp. Will there be a huge difference? Could i just buy better speakers instead of going with cheaper ones with an amp....wouldn't taht sound better??
