Best iPod ready Alpine HU?

Ok, I'm in a delima here. I want to get my iPod out of clear view (currently in a holder beside my HU), and I want a new HU with time alignment, and iPod ready, etc. I know Alpines new line ****, and the older ones are decent. So, what is the best Alpine HU that is iPod ready and will allow me to control everyhting through the HU without using that crappy, slow interface?

I'm in the process of looking for a 9835, but the means I would still have to have it the way I do now, controlling everything through my iPod, not the HU.

the old alpine ipod interface is really slow. the new one is much better. so it's either sacrifice the speed of the new interface for a better head unit, or sacrifice the better unit for a faster interface. That is if you decide to go alpine anyways.

ive got the 9857... it sucks compared to old skool alpines but it is fast and u get used to it

still some things i dont like but its the best there is as of now (imo anyways)

thats what I was afraid of. How is Pioneer and their iPod ready HU? Are they slow are fast?

From what I've read, Pioneer's are even worse than the alpines.

I've got the old KCA-420-i interface with an alpine CDA-9830 deck and it works. I do wish it were faster, but I really can't complain.

yeah if you want fast go with the "full speed" interface... its even faster than a CD.. the interface needs a little improvement but after a week or two you'll be able to get to any song pretty quickly

The "full speed" only works on the newer models doesn't it? It'd be awesome if it worked on the older ones, the better quality ones.

2006+
yea for real
And thats when Alpine Started going down hill, isn't it? What were the models from that year? I know thats when the introduced the glide touch, but was that on all models, or only the higher end ones? I want one with all the features and stuff, but the glide touch is making me think twice, even though I've never use it.

i upgraded from alpine 9827 from the 2004 line with 4v preout to the new w200. i can tell you that i barely moved the gain just a little and its a lot clearer and dynamic. I like it a lot. I also hooked up my ipod with the cable and its fast as hell. u an't get any better than this new ipod cable!

Ok, I've been thinking about it some, and I really want to control everything through my HU. I like the looks of the cda-9857 and the fact that it is fully iPod capable, but everybody says the new line ****. What exactly about them ****? Is it the actual build quality, or the fact that it doesnt have as many features as the older lines did (could the features be obtained with a separate processor?)? I've heard the sq isnt there on the new line. Is that due to the fact that the processor isnt as good, or is it blamed on the cd reader not being up to par? Would an iPod sound just as good as an older Alpine HU, or would the 9857 cut the quality down on it?

sorry for all the questions.
