I want to upgrade my 4 into 8's to something bigger. I want to put 4 gauge going into my 2 amps so what gauge should i run from the battery? I dont want to use 1/0 cause thats too ahh and i dont want any electrical problems. Can i split a 2 awg into 2 4's? Thanks

Ya. I have 4 splitting into 8 awg for my 2 amps. I want to run something bigger so instead of 8s going into my amps i want 4 awg. I dont want to run 1/0 so would 2 be good?

hes canadian guys, give him a break no ones perfect. you can run 2 ga but you will benefit more if you do use 1/0.
1/0 will give me too much current for an old car. Also i stand by what i said and tip right, you guys just read too fast

The wire won't give you any current. Its the draw of the amp. We all reccomend 1/0 because you should do it right the first time, so you don't have to redo it. And for future upgrades.

I know that, i want more power thats why im going from 8 to 4
How many amps are you running from your amps? (Add up the number on the fuses)

If you're asking this question, odds are 2-AWG is good enough.

x2

The wire doesn't pull any amount of power. You can have a 4/0 gauge Welding wire connected to an old POS car with the alt barely running the car, and as long as nothings on the other side pulling power, nothing will be affected.

You sir just earned n00b status.

The bigger the wire, the less resistance, which equals LESS strain on your electrical system. By upgrading to 0 gauge, your charging system will be lessed strained than having 4 gauge.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

okay, I keep getting mixed answers, so then 1/0 will be better for my bat/alt/electrical system then a 4 gauge, meaning it will put less stress and all in all make my alt/electrical stuff last longer than if I used a 4 gauge?
