Best gauge to split into 4's?

thought about running each channel (left and right) at 2ohms? Often time, that doubles or almost doubles your wattage given to each side.

Power increase depends entirely on the amp and you can't just switch from 4 to 2 ohms without switching speakers.

My subs will be running at 1 ohms and my speakers I beleive are running at 4. But I will be upgrading to something new(speakers). I can see myself goign as far as 1000rms to each sub and around 500 rms to each speaker, so in total that should be 3000 watts rms. I am more likely to stay around 250 to each speaker, so would 2 gauge be fine for that?

At that kind of power I'd be looking at 1/0 for sure.
