Best Buy's sneaky tricks.

you can never buy a tv based on the way it looks in a store...same goes for car audio
What...? O_O

I bought my monitor based on the way it looks... it's a 24", and I haven't seen any other TV or monitor that has the same quality.

Samsung FTW.

My brother does Hi-Fi home installs for a living, its not 4 best buy but he has been doing independant contracts and he has been talking about calibration 4 year and from what ive seen when i come with on a few jobs and you can notice a huge different in the true colors and picture quality with a calibration tool. So i think its well worth it IMO from any company

Calibration is definitely not a joke. Some TVs have white levels up to 1000 or more K above the 6500K NTSC standard, it gives everything a blue tint and will also shorten a TV's life span. If I had a nice expensive TV I would definitely pay for a calibration to the ISF standard.

Well it does show the difference in the cables, the lying bastards could have come from that angle and sold their extremely overpriced cables instead.
BS. I see no difference between HDMI and component on my set at home. And I use cheap Components. That shit is all placebo. they just intentionally ****ed with the color/contrast/brightness controls for the set on bottom to exaggerate the benefits of calibrating.

ISF calibration does make a huge difference on almost any HD TV. To have someone come in and do it does cost a bit.(Here in Canada it runs about $400-$500.) But you can buy the ISF calibration DVD for about $30 USD and it does help too. Just not as much as if a tech was to come and calibrate it.

Don't even let me get started on their warranties. I believe they're still under investigaton for fraud by many states.
I can not stand BB. When I worked there they did not honor a service plan because they had a "bad day" stats wise and sent them to another local store..funny part was they had their replacement deck up on the shelf (like 45 of them). Also when they "grade you" if you get a service plan out they give you good score but if you go on and on about them and the customer still says no the managers get all butt hurt because you make the sale without the plan. Also I got sick and tired of training my boss.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Funniest part about them also is your bosses seem to think everything that is bought there is a "same day install". I had a manager over ride what I told a sales person about doing a same day install on a remote start. We didn't have all the peices needed to make it work and the manager thought telling me I had to do it was going to make it magically work. Caused the customer 45 minutes of frustration from THE MANAGER not knowing wtf he was doing. Same manager tried to say a remote start install was a 30 minute process in a busy bay causing a really good installer to get wrote up...that manager never even looked at the extra parts that were needed to make it work there either LOL....Number pushers have no business managing a store where they do not know what it involved in installing. Funny part about it is the regonial ended up thinking I was right LOL. That same manager was on duty when about 6k in damages happened back in the bay and 2/3s of them were his rush jobs. He seemed to think 1 installer should beable to do a trunk dynamat job 3 amp 4 speaker + sub install and a remote start in 3 hours LOL

Not sure what TV you are running but on my Sony SXRD 60"widescreen I can tell the difference between Comp and HDMI, Xbox360,PS3 and BluRay. Not only in picture quality but sound quality as well.

sound, absolutely.

if your tv is 1080p then of course youll see the difference, component pretty much maxes out at 1080i.......it works with 1080p, but it wasnt made for it.

calibration DOES make a huge diffrance

my mitsubishi looked horrible out of the box,

after calibration...WOW!!!

cheap hdmi cables look just like the $100 HDMI cables,no diffrance in picture.....atleast not to the ***** eye

also blu ray looks alot better than over the air 1080i show

kung fu panda was just amazing. Then I switched back to ESPN and it was sad

yes I have directv HD set @ 1080i
