best 6.5 component speaker

Boston Pros, MB Quart QSD, OZ Matrix Elite, might be able to get some Focal K2Ps
x2 on all of them

and x2 on the Hertz mentioned above

O.P.--Why don't you see if you can go listen to some of these comps, or just go around to local places and see what your ears like, personal preference is huge lol!!

I am not saying that a sub is not needed to get nice full sound,
I'll say it then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

IMO...spending $400 on a passive set is a total waste. Either piece together a set using individual drivers (and for that budget, you could get some very nice ones), or bi-amp an already pieced-together set. But the DIY approach would have far more value.

The basis of a good car system is the bi-amped subwoofer/satellite system... it's been the standard for decades.

Heck, even my 82 year old grandmother runs a single 15" Voodoo... wimps! LOL!

JimJ-

How would one go about piecing "together a set using individual drivers", is this what people consider going active?

Could you provide an example pieced together set for a budget of $300-$400?

I was also thinking about buying some passive components but if my money could be spent in a better way and get better stuff then i would definitely be down to put the time and effort required.

You need to know what type of system you are putting together. Most people buy ****, turns out its not what they wanted and they re sell it not getting nearly as much back for it, and just repeat this process over and over.

Their are alot of good companies out their, and alot of trash companies out their. Do a little bit of research before you buy anything.
