Best 10" For Under $110?

If you are interested in any 8" subs. I have a pair of peerless 8" woofers for sale. You could just turn your gains down and it would sound pretty good. Let me know if your interested.

DejaWiz thanks a lot for the input and explanation of what Pat said. I have a 5v Preout on my Eclipse AVN5435 HU. On my stock head unit in my car the place that installed my Subs and amp had it set at 1/2 so I figured that my Eclipse HU should be safe at 3/4, but according to your explanation and the link you gave me I need to go check it and see what I should have it set at.
No problem. Definitely check things over now that you know what to look for. Even audio shop installers will get it wrong if they don't care or are just plain lazy.

Thanks for all the input so far. The TC sounds dB-500 or TC-1000 sounds like the best bet so far. Vikinglax my friend has a Power Acoustik 12" and has said good things about them also, but I am just not sure if I want to go that route. Also isn't BLAUPUNKT at the lower end of the market and I have never heard of PRECISION POWER. Heard good things about diamond and alpine, just don't think I want an alpine sub.

Blau Velocity series is pretty decent imo, but kinda pricey.

Precion Power (PPI) has been around a long time.

I still say save up a little more cash and go with the TC-1000 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

ok I have heard people saying PPI subs are good just never checked into them or knew anything about them. So far the TC-1000 looks like what I want to get are their any sites that have reviewed or have more info on the sub?

The TC SOUNDS dD-500 is out of stock right now. That TC-1000 on the other hand is a very nice low distortion driver. These sound best with a low crossover point (60-80Hz).

BLAUPUNKT is one of those companies that have made some nice stuff over the years but they never caught on as HIGH quality stuff. Some of their current products are just as good or better then some other BIG name midline offering but the Blau stuff can be had at low prices online. http://www.gspr.com/blau/vel_sub.html

So you never heard of PPI/ PRECISION POWER? Well, quite frankly they at one time produced some of the top car audio equipment around. The PPI PRO MOS and ART SERIES amps, and PPI FLAT PISTON subs are LEGENDS in the car audio world and were well represented at SQ and SPL competitions. Nevertheless, the current PRECESION POWER operation was bought by DIRECTED ELECTRONICS and much of what they used to do changed (Offshore). Nevertheless, that DCX sub had an advanced motor design. Should have high output and accurate bass.

The DIAMOND is a nice product and that ALPINE TYPE R is decent and produces a lot of bass.

If it were me...I would narrow it down to the TC-1000 or the Precision Power DCX.

You might be able to run the PPI with the full power of your amp.

Do a search here on the forum.

But I second the Phoenix Gols RSD suggestion. Awesome sub for any price, and they can be had for around $90-100 new. RMS rating is only 500w, but they can take 1000w rms all day long.

The TC-1000 is close the their older but legendary TC2+ motor subs. The TC-1000 like the TC2+, have the copper shortning ring. The TC2+ subs were some of the LOWEST distortion subs of the time.

Testing on the TC2+

Still like the PP DCX for power handling.

So if I upped my spending limit to $160 shipped to my door for a 10" instead of $110 would you all still say the TC-1000 is the best buy for the money and watts I will be feeding to the sub? How does the ED 11Ov.2 Subwoofer compare? I am not sure if it will take the wattage I want to give the sub though, but they sell it as a package with that box for $135.

The TC-1000 is a very nice sub....However at your budget, these are pretty much entry level subs in terms of high power handling. There are several tens that can take the full 1 Ohm power of your amps but you are going to pay much more for them.

So, the TC is a very clean sub that has some good output but you can get into trouble with too much power and I would say 700 watts would be at the high end of the power you would want to feed it. I would think you could overdrive it if you are not careful. I would say the same thing for the eD 11Ov.2. LOOK AT THEIR POWER CHART: http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/elementaldesigns_11ov2chart.php

700 watts would be in the RED ZONE!

"Red Light : This district is a place it's ok to be. But only if you know what you are doing. Power used in this region may have output gains but if used incorrectly can severely shorten the lifeline of the speaker and it's performance. If using power in this region please contact a eD Technician"
