BCAE gain controls information

I was playing with the first calculator in the gain controls section. (Section 63) And from playing with it I found that a 4vrms HU at 75% would be 3vrms. so I have 3vrms going to the amp. Now if I set the gains to 3vrms It would give me the 100W out of the example amp that the page is refering to...

Is this true for all amps?

If the amp is for 600W @ 4 ohm, if I set my gains to 3v would i get the full 600w at 75% of my HU volume then???

Assuming the pre-amp voltage on the HU is accurate and linear and the gain values on the amp are accurate then yes, you'll get about 100w from the amp at 3/4 HU volume.

However, pre-amp voltages aren't always accurate and probably aren't quite linear.

If you set your gains conservatively by the number on the dial you're probably fine, but it is because of all these variables that it is a good idea to measure voltage of the amps output terminals to accurately set your amp(s) gain(s).

Alright, thank you, I will do that after work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
