battery wiring argument

alright, i just came from the stereo where i needed a couple short runs of wire and some terminals. Some randon dude was asking me about why i needed just a few 4 ft run. i was in a good mood so i didn't tell him to piss off, told him i had an extra batt in my trunk and needed some short ground and power runs.

He proceeds to tell me not a ground my second battery or else i'll fukk my cars electrical up. Som i'm like WTF? he goes on to say just run the power from front batt to second batt and then on to the amps, and just ground the first batt to frame and ground the amps...no need to ground the 2 nd batt.

Is this a true statement?

now i am going to ground my amps straight back to the second battery, ground the 2nd battery to the frame rail, and front battery is grounded to the frame rail too with 0 ga wire

well theyd technically just pull from the first battery...he would be using the second battery as a distro i guess
nah, he said he was going to ground his amps to the second battery. wouldnt they pull from the 2nd battery as well as the first, once the limits of the alt were surpassed?

lol....how does he expect that battery to get a charge, if its an open circuit?
your amps pull power from the battery until its dead...and then?
well theyd technically just pull from the first battery...he would be using the second battery as a distro i guess
if he wired it as the idiot in the shop told him to, then yes the 2nd battery would be doing absolutely nothing. People in this world //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

well what does the guy at the shop consider grounding the amps in the back?

he didnt say ground the amps to the chassis.he just said to ground them. he could of meant ground the amps to the rear battery neg terminal. in which case he would be pulling power from the 2nd battery as well.

am i misunderstanding you?
