Well last night when I was going out to start my car I turned the key and it wouldn't start. All the lights went off when I turned it, the starter clicked, but it wouldn't turn over. I checked voltage on the battery and its 11.4, same for the alternator. If the starter was bad would it only click once like that and cut all the lights out?

Have you tried boosting or charging the battery?

bang on the starter. It may just be the brushes sticking or maybe the solenoid is bad.
Use something non conductive. You either need a starter rebuild, or it might be the starter solenoid. If you know where it is, you can jump the posts and override the solenoid to test if its the problem.

clean you battery post and terminals and make sure they are tight. If it still does it, get the battery checked. I had a battery one time that had an internal short. It would work everything but as soon as I put a load on it (starting it). It would shut everything down.

My vote is possibly the battery. On my old 1994 Mazda B-3000 pickup the lights would come on radio would work ect ect. But when you went to start it alls you heard was a clicking. Changed the battery problem begone. But I guess it didn't help that it still had the original factory battery in it.

Clean your battery terminals and clamps with a wire brush or improvise.

1.Disconnect both the battery terminals. Sprinkle some baking soda over your terminals and clamps.

2.Pour a little water over the baking soda and let it set for 5 minutes.

3.Rinse it all off. reconnect terminals.
