battery EXPLODED

Ok, well Saturday night I did the big 3 on my car. It started several times and ran fine all night. Yesterday after noon I started it again to move it out of the driveway so my girl friend could leave. Then last night arounf 9 I tried to start it and the battery was dead. It had enough juice for the keyless entry to work and the solenoid in the starter clicked but it woulodn't turn over. Then this morning I put a charger on it and tried a couple time over the period of an hour but it wouldn't start. The last time I tried it exploded. This battery is only 3 years old, but has been drained and then jumped one other time. WTF happened?!?!?!?

3 years for a starter is up there, especially if it has been drained before... that'll SEVERELY affect perfromance.

I just bought a yellow top and now i'm afraid its gonna blow up in my face or something when I hook it up. What should I do with whats left of my old battery. It still has some acid in it.

take it to a toxic waste dump or hide it in your regular garbage, wear gloves when transporting it though

Get a small plastic storage bin..like at Target or Walmart and put it in that and throw it in some dumpster behind a building...

lol or just take it to any of the many battery disposel places where u live instead of dumping it sum where so that acids can drip our mmmmm tasty

well, I thinks it about time for me to get rid of that unsealed battery sitting in my bedroom right next to my amplifier after looking at this website.

Sounds like you hooked the chargers terminals up to the battery the wrong way. I saw someone try to jumpstart an ambulance that way and it spewed its contents all over the engine compartment...

As far as disposal goes, some auto parts stores will dispose of them for you, just wrap it up well so it doesn't spill everywhere...

most battery places take them for free too. we dropped off probbably 45 batteries to wholesale battery totally free funniest part about it the vast majority were not even our batteries. on that link that guy makes it almost sound like if it were a old school wet cell it wouldnt have hurt anything.....those can explode and give a much worse acid shower/spill

i dont think its too funny. in that reguard in use a battery in bad shape can blow up
