I have to agree. someone could have been really hurt.i dont think its too funny. in that reguard in use a battery in bad shape can blow up
no more than likely with an optima (this is what happened to me) when its near dead or dead and you hook it up to a charger or jump start it the voltage shoots up really high on the charger at first and the inards cant take it so it malfunctions. what i always use is a power supply set up between 13.8-14.4 so it cant get a voltage spike. give it a good hour or 2 on the power supply (can charge all the way up from the power supply but if you leave it unattended a charger with autoshut off or a timer works good)It wouldnt blow from overcharging fro mthe big 3 upgrade would it?
ok just making sure cause Im gonna do my big 3 with 1/0 and I have the stock battery under the hood so i dont want to mess it up. I will use an optima in the trunk but didnt want to change the one under the hood.no more than likely with an optima (this is what happened to me) when its near dead or dead and you hook it up to a charger or jump start it the voltage shoots up really high on the charger at first and the inards cant take it so it malfunctions. what i always use is a power supply set up between 13.8-14.4 so it cant get a voltage spike. give it a good hour or 2 on the power supply (can charge all the way up from the power supply but if you leave it unattended a charger with autoshut off or a timer works good)
Spark between the positive post and cable ignited the fumes from either/both the battery or the Gas/Propane (which ever it was)????i had a battery blow up in my face before.....
back in senior year of high school, one of the janitors golf carts wouldnt start and brought it over to the auto shop to fix it. I took a look at it and was filling up the water in the batteries (12 6volt batteries IIRC). The cart, and the batteries i guess, were a couple years old and as i was refilling the water in the batteries, i notice that one of the batteries' actual positive terminal was loose and wiggling. This lit of the "holy shit" light in my head and i proceeded to not touch that battery and finish off my job. so as everything was done i told the janitor, hey i think we should replace that battery before you ride it, but the electrical genius he is, decided not to. We turned the key and it still wouldnt start. I said look, that loose terminal isnt connecting and its gonna spark.
He said no u just gotta give it gas, i was holding up the seat, and thought this guy is a fvcking retard and looked away as he decided to turn the key and give it gas. Next thing I know all i can see is white and i cant hear anythign at all for a good 15 seconds. Once i was back into it, my buddy brought me to the eye wash, which is actually pretty cool lol, and i changed my clothes and washed myself off. I went and looked back at the cart and it literally blew the seat off the cart ( it wasnt bolted down or anythign).
It took abouyt a day, but the acid sure did eat some holes in my shirt.

yea that shit was nuts. people came in from about 4 classrooms over. It was the loudest bang ive ever heard in my life. thank god i wasnt looking strait at the battery or else id be blindI agree, it's no joke or laughing matter.
