i have a khc 1200 and an 1800 i plan on upgrading to the 2400s when i finish my install but im in the market for a charger and does it matter if i buy a 50$ walmart one or an xspower or kinetic 300$ one

Ive used a 40dollar schumacher from walmart for 5 years to charge all 3 of my batts without unhooking from car and have had no issues ..no way im paying 300 for a xs charger ..if course im not payin xs crazy prices for batteries either

No charger gets batteries to 14.4 ..the alt does..it gets them to 13.or so like any 12v charger

your alternator gets them to 14.4V but 14.4V could still mean your battery is completely out of juice.

okay thanks for the info! and i got a mechman 240amp and all my batteries are new and i want to charge them before installing my alt

Don't mean to high jack your thread, but are you going to be running an isolator as well?

I'm pushing a 12w7 with an 1000/1 JL slash amp and a 450/4 is powering my interiors. I measured the volts of my factory battery setup with the big 3 and I'm dropping as low as 11.9v on a new accord. I'm thinking adding a KHC1200 as a 2nd battery and a Pac-200 isolator will help me out. Will I be OK with my stock alternator?

Anyone got a how to link for installing a 2nd battery and an isolator? I found this vid, but looks like he hooked it up wrong.
