Batteries > Alternator?

Hey errrrrybody! I've got a question that I've pretty much already answered myself but I guess I'm asking anyways just to get some more confirmation or insight to other possibilities/potential options.

Anyways... Right now I've got one saz-2500d and I'm looking to add two more in the near future. I drive a little '04 Civic SI and there is absolutely no room for multiple alternators. The biggest one I can find is a 295a alt from Mike Singer.

I'm in the process of adding eight 105ah Deka batteries to the back of the Honda and I will only have a 295a alternator to charge them which obviously won't be enough to keep the batteries at a full charge while driving.

What are my options? Will I just have to get a nice charger and charge the batts every day? Every weekend? Couple times a month?

That's what I'm assuming I'll have to do but if anyone has any other ideas or suggestions that would be appreciated! Thanks.

Trickle charging your batts is always smart, but if the system is off you will recharge i use to always charge mine for a min or two before i turned my truck off

So I could charge all 8 batteries plus the one up front with a 290a alt if I have the system off and let it charge them for a couple mins? You're sure?

That's a plenty adequate battery bank IMO.

Realistically unless you're driving around playing sine waves at full tilt there's no way you'll be drawing down those reserves faster than they'll recharge normally with the alternator.

Not knowing your definition of "music" and whether or not you're a retard I won't say for sure, but realistically, let's assume you keep the volume knob a couple clicks below maximum while driving, you're AT LEAST 3dB down from your max power (so already at half power or a little less). Now consider you're playing actual music and not just whale songs. Most actual music (the kind with instruments and lyrics that don't involve committing crime, illicit drugs, and do not include the phrase "muh dik") is pretty dynamic so over time you're drawing probably less than half of the half.... THEN assuming you're bright enough and considerate enough to turn your music down before driving into your own neighborhood you have 10 minutes or so more of charge time.

I'd wager that you'll only have an issue with voltage/charging if you're idling in a parking lot trying to play it at absolute max volume trying to impress your buddies.

Also, big props for actually planning a respectable battery bank.... and good luck dealing with the weight.

Thanks bud. That helped quite a bit. I don't really ever play my music in parking lots or anything like that lol.

I also already simulated the weight of eight batteries in the back. Yeah, it sags but it's not near as bad as I thought. It should be fine. I've seen worse. :p

Banging a fat chick in the back seat?

Seriously though, I ran my JBL/Crown 6K for a couple years on just 3 of the Deka 105AH batteries and full tilt at idle was the only time I had significant voltage issues. I'd guess you'd burn up coils long before you ran out of battery reserve if you were driving.

I luh trax bout ma deek, fug aw dat utter jun'....There's nothing wrong with a little rap, u kud get brian damage listen'n 2tha head banger shytz Hahaha....
