batt setup

Nobody can say how much resistance you have in your chassis. Some people may be fine while others may lose 1/2 a volt or more.

Someone on here said it well: When it comes to electrical, anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

Btw in setup1 you would still ground your batts to chassis.

 
What if there's just one batt in the back? Is it necessary to run a ground all the way from the front to the back batt? I've seen mixed opinions on this.

Depends on the vehicle. If it is a uni body I would consider this a no brainer to run the ground up front
