Basic Question

i have 2 Rockford Fosgate P3's 12" and i am wondering what i shoulkd get to power them, money is not really a factor but would like to stay below 500 if possible. the rating says that the need 1000W/2000W what does that mean what are the important numbers to look at in the specs of an amp. i really have no idea what i am doing. the guys at the place i take my car to get customized told me that the amp i have now is not good enough it is a rockford fosgate t500-1bd but it was really expensive and the salesguy said it was one of the best on the market.

as you can tell i am very confused about this whole thing and hope someone can help straiten me out

thanks so much

It should say somewhere on the box for your subs or on the actual sub itself. Like one sub should be either dual 4 or 2ohm. Its the impedance of your subs.

If you have dual 4ohm subs you could wire them up parallel and have a final ohm load of 1ohm. Which the amp will put out most power.

do you agree with his advice on the amp

how much of an improvement do you think the AQ1200D will be over the t500-1bd?

does anyone have any other ideas on possible solutions

well its 700watts rms more. But if the t500-1bd is underrated like the older ones, the amp probably does around 800watts rms @ 1ohm. Then even still the AQ has 400watts rms more.

And the AQ is cheaper then the RF. $229 shipped for the AQ and RF is 249.99 from sonic electronix.
