Based on O-Dipshit's first 6 months...

they wouldn't have all gone out of business. bankruptcy doesn't mean you go out of business, which i guess you must think. and if that's what it takes, that's what it takes. we are just prolonging the inevitable and not allowing the market to reset. throwing money at a problem never fixes the problem, which is essentially what we've done. we bailed out chrysler in the 70's as well. packard went out of business and we didn't fail. we're going to bring down the whole country trying to bail out corrupt and failed businesses. we can't subsidize everything forever on a debt standard.
But, Chrysler and GM did file bankruptcy? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

and LOL at comparing Packard to GM or Chrysler. Also you should see the old Packard plant. Some degenerates are starting fires with their portable torches trying to steal steel rods. They also been dumping shoes there for some reason. I know that was off topic but rarely do you hear anyone talk about Packard anymore.

it was just an example of something going completely out of business as opposed to bankruptcy. and they did not re-structure anything at GM through a bankruptcy. instead, they are doing it through a "car czar", an obama appointed GM, and union control. that is not a bankruptcy. the government also decided which GM car lots would close up, and are forced to transfer all GM cars to other dealers, also determined by the car czar. but they don't have control.

edit: the packard plant was on life after people the other night. interesting place, so i decided to study into it a little.

The union has ownership in GM because in their agreement GM was suppose to pay a lump sump to the UAW in a VEBA fund and the UAW would take GM's retiree healthcare off their hands. GM could not afford to make this contribution so the UAW agreed to take stock in GM instead of the monetary payment. I'm not seeing how you are getting the government gave ownership to the union. This was a deal worked out between GM and the UAW.

your stuck on that for some reason, but i'll just throw out there that there is a difference between common and preferred stock. the uaw is ahead of the taxpayer when and if the payoff comes back, which i'm skeptical about GM actually making money in the first place. regulations and the union contracts are unsustainable unless constantly subsidized by us. they can't turn a profit, which is probably by design, but i'm kind of conspiratorial. but you never argued my other points. the car czar is in control of which dealers get shut down and which dealers receive that inventory. he is in charge of how much they can spend on advertising. he is in control of fuel standards and environmental issues. and the GE finance arm is heavily controlled and regulated by the banking committee. there are others, but we can start there. who is in control? who owns GM? the ceo was appointed by obama. companies in america are owned by actual people. who owns GM, and where is this person to defend their company?

Why do I get the feeling that neither of you know this stuff off the top of your heads? I as soon as one of you posts the other goes straight to Wikipedia to see how you should respond.

Like I said earlier and the government has said, they are going to get out when GM emerges. The UAW had an agreement with GM and compromised and are taking billions of liabilities off of GM so why shouldn't they get the first payouts? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I never denied the government is controlling GM. I said the government is going to get GM to viability again and then get out.

Perhaps you have something to add? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Nope this craps over my head.
so you are admitting to being ignorant, yet you somehow still have an opinion. some people at least try to pay attention. when 2 presidents in a row start saying things like "as deep as the great depression", and "economic collapse", i tend to think it may be important enough to pay some attention to an issue or 2.

they are not going to get out because they will never turn a profit. it is impossible. name 1 sector of government that comes in under budget. it will never happen, especially with the new coming environmental regualations.

Whats it matter to me I can't do anything about the situation GM is in.

So then you suggest GM goes away? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I'll wait awhile before I make this judgement.
