I do not have steering wheel controls, I don't have OnStar or a factory amp. Do I still need the $100 wiring harness? If so, could you please give me the part number on the wiring harness that I need?

Honestly man, i'd just tap into the power, ground, and ignition wires yourself, and run the wires to the speakers yourself. It'd be a hella lot cheaper.

Crutchfield says you lose the door chimes.... is that true? I can't imagine they would play through the stereo anyway

I have the 06 impala without onstar also. I didn't buy that 100+ dollar piece because i honestly could care less to lose those annoying door chimes. I also lost my steering wheel radio controls, but i could care less.

The door chimes are replaced with a speaker in a box you have to mount. They are very annoying.

you will lose the door chimes, which are annoying imo anyways.

really? you used regular wiring harness' and the car didn't stay running?

You will ose your door chimes and in some GM cars you will loose you trip meter, oil life, and tire pressure guage. I believe the Harness you need is a MET GMOS 01. If you use it the oly problem that sucks is the your door chime will come through the front driverside speaker and it takes about 5 seconds before music will play agian in that speaker

I used a Malibu harness in my girlfriends 06 Cobalt, it worked, but she lost door chimes, trip meter, and oil life.
