a Year or 2 ago i had a cibc credit card. 6 months go by and i didnt get a statement, which is fine cause i barely used it and knew exactly what i had used it for a few weeks earlier. Well when i finally got my bill, it tells me i owe $400, $200 more then what i know i put on there. After a little investigating, there is a ticketmaster puchase for the mysterious $200. I called CIBC and they told me they couldnt do anything about it, so i refused to pay. I have no problem paying for what i put on there but nothing else.

the other day i got a letter in the mail from a lawyers office saying if i dont pay it may go to court. will they really take me to court? or is it just a threat to get me to pay? i dont want to be stuck with something someone else did. my card supposivly has a 100% non liabiitly on it. what should i do?

The court thing is probably just a scare tactic to get you to pay up. My guess is that court fees would cost much more than the 200 bucks you aren't willing to pay.

Try calling up ticket master and see if they can give you a location as to where the card was used to purchase from them, maybe if you can prove that it wasn't you using the card, than CIBC should remove the charge.

i tried that at first and both places kept giving me a run around.

i found out who did it, an ex, iunno how she got the number. neither place cared about that.

I don't believe they can do so for Unsecured debt, which would be the ticketmaster thing. If it was secured debt, like car, house, or hospital bills, then yes they can, which my wife is going through now. We have lost over 900 dollars a month thanks to a past car of hers and he EX stopping child support. Sucks!

you can always try to send the debt collector a pic of a spider....and see if they will accept that as payment...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
LOL yeah ill have to try and if not ill ask for it back.

Should i just give in, pay it and try to rebuild some credit? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I would get a credit check, then if it is on your credit dispute it with the credit agencie(s) that you have been reported to and ask for proof of owing the bill. A lot of times they keep reselling the debit and the paperwork gets lost somewhere.

If they can't prove it here in the US they have to drop it from your credit in 30 days so that you get that mark removed.

If they prove you owe it offer half of it and see if they take it, if not just pay the whole thing it is a minimal amount of money.
