Sorry to post back here so late, I've been busy as hell between box builds and friends asking me for freebie installs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Anyways, sorry if I missed this somewhere else in the thread, but I've got a few questions as to your goals and expectations of this said enclosure.

1. I think you said one woofer, most likely a 10". Have you settled upon one yet? Knowing which one and the T/S parameters would make for a better tuned box tailored to your driver.

2. What are some size dimensions within reason. Even if you have none, would you rather it be wide and deep and short? Or the other way around, just so I don't design something that is completely impractical in your case.

3. What kind of sound are you looking to get from this box? A large peak/spike for a one-note max SPL wonder? Or something that has a nice flat transient response?

4. What kind of signal is going to be pushed through this box/driver setup? Home theater/movies, or only music etc?

5. I don't believe you mentioned which you had decided upon, but are we talking 4th or 6th order bandpass? I think this is going in a home theater so I would recommend 4th because they can go lower.

no not h/t it will be the coffe table (low and wide) in my friends shop waiting area

using a JL W312v3 on a JL 500/1 and the top will be plexi so thats why i'm looking for cool desicns 4th or 6th will be for demo of sound room so decent output required

take your time and make it pretty lol

there may be a prize if im knocked oout by design

look up in the thread was contemplating using those clear areo's but will prob just do slot ports so there you go

excuses excuses lol

cool looking foward to it c'mon every boby else submit some cool designs

if I use your design I'll etch you name in to the plexi top //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

i kno ikno just the thought of your work in a shop in a small sw fla town gets your heart racing:crazy: but calm down and draw draw draw //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I've been kind of busy here lately. But here's what I've come up with so far...

I know that WinISD does not represent and exact real world application, but it does a pretty good job at recreating transient curves in respective boxes with the said driver. It doesn't account for the acoustical effects of the surroundings, but this is going in a larger room, so there shouldn't be as large of an effect as a car cabin.

Here's some of the results I came up with using the JL Audio 12W3v3 driver. First off, it appears this driver doesn't really like 4th order bandpass enclosures. No matter how much I fiddled with it, I would either get a flat response, but with low output, or a super high peak (typical of best buy bandpass boxes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif) so I also plotted a regular ported box. 1.75 cubic feet net as recommended by JL with a middle of the road tune @ 35Hz. It gave a decent response with fair output, better than the 4th order in my opinion. Surprisingly, the 6th order yielded really great results. With a 3 cube chamber tuned to 32 Hz and a 1.5 cube chamber tuned to 60 Hz, it gave excellent output from 30-80Hz range which should be good for your setup. Here's the transient curves so you can decide for yourself.

I'm in the process now of making a physical design to those volumes/tuning. I'll post some more stuff tomorrow.
