Hello all, well I bought a new car and it's time to re-haul my stereo entirely. I'm out of the loop when it comes to which companies make decent subwoofers now-days.
For reference, I've previously had subwoofers made by Adire Audio, Arc Audio, Acoustic Elegance, TCsounds, Fi, etc. From 4 sealed 12s in my old truck to my current single TC OEM 10 sealed in my Camaro. I now have an SUV and want something in between:
I'm mainly asking which subwoofers are made out there that fit my bill as these companies seem to always come and go. ALL of my systems have been sealed enclosure designs as I'm more into SQ than SPL, but the ONE ported system I had in my truck was actually one of the best sounding systems I've ever had, and always was obviously louder, and that was with some old TC-1000s, which were geared more towards Sealed. So I got the best of both worlds and want to go ported again.
Even though I have an SUV, I value my cargo space greatly. I know that ported enclosures take up more space, but if there are some subwoofers that are specifically made for smaller ported designs, that would be fantastic. Otherwise I'm going to have to go sealed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Requirements:
-$300 budget for each sub.
-I want two 12in subs, so $600 total budget, no more.
-My amp will have 1000w rms for the pair, so each sub needs to handle around 500wrms.
-Subs made for SMALLER ported enclosure design
-Subs, that in a ported design, are more geared towards SQ. If it gets loud like an SQL system, the better, of course.
-I listen to everything, hence the need for SQ. Mostly all sorts of Rock, prog rock, jazz, death metal (double bass), new and old. I also listen to electronica music, dubstep, stuff like Deadmau5, etc, so I'd like for it to sound decently loud for that music, too.
I have no idea what subs are out there for my needs. If you could name brands, models, links to read, etc etc, that would be great. If I'm going to have to go with a larger ported box for this, I might start a new thread since I'll have to go back to sealed designs for space saving.
Sorry that this is so long, but I'm excited to get back in the game!
