Avalanche Sub Question

I have a brand new 15" avalanche sub sitting in my room waiting to be installed. I have never heard it play & I don't have box that I can put it in just yet.

I will be fiberglassing a sealed enclosure for it. Wondering if this sub is punchy like an idmax. from previous posts, sounds like the low end is not a problem but can it pound out the higher bass frequencies with accuracy?

I would lowpass it at around 60hz.

It fades away a bit in the very upper region of the sub range (65-70 + Hz)...but, in the range that it should be playing it creates beautiful sound throughout. Sealed will give you better punch than I'm getting ported, and I couldn't ask for better response.

WOW. sounds reassuring. I was debating if I should cut my rear quarter panel trim to make it fit without obstructing my third row. I was actually thinking of going with a smaller sub, but now my panel has a date with the roto zip. thanks

What is the mounting depth on an Avalanche?

I can't recall, but it is 1 1/2 inches deeper before it starts to go over the 3rd row. If I cut a hole in my quarter panel trim & remove the faxtory sub box, I will have room to build a fiberglass box & still have access to the complete 3rd row seating.

^ that didn't make sense. It goes over the 3rd row by a 1 1/2".
