So I did a bit more testing today.
This a baseline for future tests to see HOW MUCH each improvement helps.
I DIDN'T RUN THE AMP ALL OUT. These are not maximum power ratings. I wanted to keep Voltage > 12 V
Stock electrical - baseline:
car idling @ 700 eng-rpm, yellowtop g35, stock alt, and 1 run of 4 ga (i have 2 runs in the car... and 1/0 ga waiting in the garage)
Voltage Drop
14.1V --> ~12 V
Power Drawn
80 A DC at 12V DC = 960 W
Power Output
20 A AC at 36V AC = 720 W
Impedance
1 ohm --> 1.8 ohm (36 V AC / 20 A AC)
Efficiency
75% @ 1.8 ohms
Everything seems on par. All values were repeatable. I'll compare the results with:
1) 1/0 ga wire upgrade
2) HO Alt upgrade
