The gain is not a volume knob. How far it has to be turned up depends on you HU and how high you have it turned up while setting the gain. I have a HU with 8V outputs, and I have my gains turned all the way down.Hey man did you find you can't turn it up very far to get the power. I am def not complaining but just curious. I got mine like 1 quarter of the way up and the eq flat lined on my head unit and I set the amp to about 37.5 volts, and its at a quarter of the gain.
The amp's ability to accept a high level input can do this. If the knob on one amps starts at 6V, and the other at 4V, then you are going to have different gain settings for each amp.I know its not a volume, just all the other amps I have had I have had to turn them up like 3 quarters of the way to get loud. I set it with the head unit 3/4 the way up with a 50 htz tone.
Its about time you made yourself happy with a setup, good jobWell I just set the gain correctly with a dmm on this amp and I love it. Before I set it at a volume of 55 of 62 on my head unit. I did a little math and 3/4 of that is 46.5 so I just set it 47, and wow it sounds so much better. I really don't know why but it sounds alot cleaner and now the mids and highs aren't distorting as bad, so really everything sounds alot better.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
