audio pulse axis, si mag, css-sd12 or 2 sdx10's

I have about 400 bucks to spend, 1000 watts and about 3ft3 for drivers for a new sub setup. I strongly prefer a ported enclosure. But if i could get enough spl out of a sealed setup i'd try it. Right now im using some old school mtx 7000's i had since 1997 and have hit 140dbs in a ported box in a prelude. They are not as loud in the maxima but they do sound very good.

I'm into sql. Parts express has the axis quad coil on sale leaning towards that right now. I've read the si mags are pretty bad assed, but they are designed for sealed. I've been wanting to try css a sd12 or 2 sdx10's ported for a minute, with xbl2 and 1000 watts they should reach full potential and sound amazing. Not sure if a single sd12 would do it for me.

Would one of the formentioned 12's smack the sdx10's or vise versa. Its been out of car audio for about 8 years so its like being a newbe again.

I went ahead and ordered the 12" audiopulse axis, received on Tuesday. Its very, very beefy. Now its time to build the box. There was a formula I use a while ago. Dont know what i did with it.

The enclosure i currently have the 10's in measure in at 2.75ft3 before driver/port displacement. The ports measure in at 4''x13''each

I figured i'd build a new box or mod the old one. Thinking that once the port and the huge driver is installed it'll be close to the recommended volume of 2.1 or so.

I want the use a slot port. Dont know how to tune anymore.

Ok. forget that other stuff. I have a max width of 35 max height of 15 possiblity 16

and max depth of 15 at bottom 9 at top. Basic wedge shape.

Anybody knows how to figure out the slots lenght, say if the heigh is 13.5" and width is 3" for a 33-35hz tune. Somebody please help.

Did some research on them and found that they are good sq drivers. It was the last gen that got loud and had good sq. For me it must sound good and be able to get stupid. If it cant get loud and clean its not for me.

Got the audiopulse. I know that company has gone under or is very close to going under. But i dont care, i just wanted the best i could afford and I dont seem to have a problem keeping my equipment alive.

I need box recommendations.

Just keep a few bottles of CA glue handy and you'll be "OK" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

I think I'am gonna build the box a few inches narrower but deeper to allow air to flow from trunk the cabin better. The slot will measure 13.5" high, 3" wide by 22" long and rounded with mitered quarter round. Port area would be over 40sq". When done the box should have about 2.2ft3 after port and driver are in.

wish this woulda been up earlier, had an SDX 15".. i recently put it out of its misery & am going to recone it with different parts. :p
OT, but that's ill advised. No other parts will work properly in that sub, given it's XBL^2 and a shorter coil is what it's designed for. If you recone and misalign the coil vertically in the gap, you'll get a severely skewed frequency response, power handling, and all the t/s specs will have gone to hell.

yea i have that same 12" from partsexpress, i was feeling adventurous and put it in a 2.8 cu box not including the extra front baffle and the bracing inside. the port was 30.75" long 12.5" high 4" wide, tuned to about 33.

because of the way my trunk is level with the cabin i have it facing into the cabin.

slams so hard, never gets warm or stinky

What are u powering it with? Iam feeding mine with a old school mtx 2300 hits very hard for 700 watts or so. Flexes the car very good. But it wants more. Im thinking something from audioque or sundown. Im very interested in seeing what it would do with 1500k-2000 watts.

o yea sorry i took so long lol drrrrrr

naw i have it on a Hifonics BXi 2610D its cheap i know lol

wired to 1.4 you can tell from about 22 hz and up it could use some more power, but lol with the box so big it lost power handling on the super lows, like the 4-7hz that bass i love you pumps out lol

yea id highly recommend those two brands and above or around 2000 jus to be safe //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
