The US is still in the same position, spending billions of dollars (while cutting social programs), losing troops, further hardening the Arab world against us with no end in sight.

I dont know how I really feel about this. I mean to be honest he did seem to run shit better over there, but the guy has killed or had killed so many innocent people. I just wish we never got our selves involved over there years ago, but we did and now we are in a shitfeast of shit! There just isn't any reason to stay the course; it's unwinnable.

Maybe if we were willing to slaughter half of the civilian population, in order to instill fear and order, we might have a shot at victory.. but we aren't willing to do that. Our impotent methodology gains us nothing but lost troops, trillions of dollars of debt and greater hatred in the region.

It's disturbing to see all you totally uninformed Americans cheering this like it changes one thing over there, or justifies our president's warmongering. BTW Faulkton, I also question whether our country is brutal enough to occupy a nation hostile to our presence. I think we are great liberators -- think 1940's Europe - but not very good occupiers.

Now the Romans, Soviets and folks of similar mindsets, they know how to occupy a country.

well, eventually we will leave.. and its going to be brutal when we do. I dont think it's going to matter much if its now or in five years, except its going to cost us more money, more international credibility and more lives.

What we need to do is find someone willing to be as brutal as saddam, but a little more friendly to us, arm him and let him go to work.

Eventually someone will be brutal enough to keep that place in check, so we might as well choose who that is and make him like us.

I agree with you Faulkton. I mean I am glad he is dead for doing all the shitty things he has done to his own people and ours, but I dont see a win/win situation with any of this.
