Need computer help "Laggy" video during gaming

So I just got this laptop

I can play Halo online. I can run protools. I can also do just about anything that I need for work on it. I can get into Source and get into a server, but once in there It gets very jittery when I get into a larger room with action. If I am alone in the game in a small room I am ok. Its once I step out that everything gets "laggy".

I know its a laptop and I shouldnt expect much, but this computer should have no issues playing this game.

What I have done...

Turned off all background programs

Updated video drivers

tried directX 7, 8.1, & 9

any ideas to get it to run faster? I ran the CS video test and I am in the 60fps range.

i think the lack of a dedicated video card is your problem

probably the game you are playing requires u to have a video memory of 256mb u only have 128mb.

Maybe you can add a video card?

I know my laptop i can change out the one i have..

You need a better video card. My laptop can exchange video cards. Your ram and everything else is fine. A gig of ddr2 is fine, its your integrated card, that's all.

The tosh is built in with shared memory from what I understand. I am going to go into the BIOS tonight and make sure I have the shared memory set to 128mb instead of 64mb I am unsure if they preset it to 64 or 128 from toshiba seeing that 128 is max.

Maybe that will help out a bit if that is the case. If not, I might just return it and get something even faster.

My laptop isnt going to be able to add a card. You must have a much higher end laptop. I havent seen any that you can do that go for under a few thousand bucks....I could be wrong though.

naw i think i spent about $1300 on mine.. and it has a replaceable vid card.. I have a 256meg geforce 6800 in it.. .and can change it out when i need to.

Let just say I paid ~$850 for this one and still have a $150 mail in rebate that I could send off if I dont return it.
