Atomic 5000.1 Help

Alright. I am quite disappointed. I am in the process of trading my Stetsom 2k6 for an Atomic 5000.1. The first part of the trade was for me to receive the Atomic and test it to make sure everything works properly. Well, it arrived on Friday, and I hooked it up Saturday to run at 2 ohms on my DD 9515 Dual 1. It did, and it worked fine. I did not do much testing with it at 2 ohms.

Then I hooked it up at 0.5 ohm today, and set the gains for 50 (SQRT(5000X0.5) = 50). Well, after some adjusting of the low pass filter and such, I got it about as loud as it could get tonight.

Well, I have an AudioControl Epic 150, and whether it is not the equivalent of the TL is not relevant here. What is relevant is that I get real time feedback. The fact is the Atomic 5000.1 is putting up the same **** scores as the Stetsom 2k6d - same tone, same box, same sub, same electrical, different amp.

So, my next mission is to get in there and do some clamp testing tomorrow. The Stetsom did 2924 @ 0.95 ohm. I don't know what to expect, but I'm hoping I'm not getting 3000 watts at 0.5 ohm from the Atomic. Anyway, here are some rather crappy pics I took of the internals. Maybe someone can spot an issue.

should've gotten a Z1a if you wanted to get louder.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif...but you probally at the single subs limit...once you get to a certain point that is pretty much it...you'll do the same with 3000 or 6000 watts...its either all the sub can do or all your box can do...i've ran into the same thing....before

I do not know, but the post below says it is.

My voltage drops to around 12.3 volts, same as it did with the Stetsom //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

That is what I was deathly afraid of - I do not want to give up the space for more moofas, and I was hoping more power would give me a couple more deebeez at least.

The gen 1's have to be dialed in correctly to get the most out of it for a 12volt setup. The guts look fine from what i see in the pics, but it is kind of blurry.

keep in mind, dropping ohm load ups current which in turn increases heat.

increase heat= higher resistance, which in turn could cause your score to stay the same even though you have quite a bit more power.

Yep, the pics are terrible. However, I agree, that when I opened it up everything looked fine and nothing looked burned up. Also, I did tweak it to get more out of it. I was scared to death when I first installed it. It was terribly quiet, but after I played with the low pass filter I got it to where it is now.

Just a tip for you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif turn everything down on the amp to 0 use the dmm and dial the bass boost up 3vac than turn your gain up to 75-80vac, for burping purposes turn your lowpass all the way up to the highest setting and keep your sub sonic off. For daily you will have to set the lowpass and subsonic.

I tested my 2007 AT3000.1 at 2ohms against my KX2500.1 and it was louder by ear easy, and at .5ohms well it was a night and day difference, that 5000.1 should do over 5kw easy

You do indeed sound like a man who knows his way around this amp. Now, questions are abounding my mind about that information. With the bass boost dialed up a bit and the gains up to 75, I am murdering the amp. 75 vac at 0.5 ohm is set to push out 11,250 watts! I'm going to assume that is for someone running a 1 ohm load, and I should push it up to maybe 54-56 vac? Right now it is at 50.4 vac with no bass boost.

Keep in mind this amp is running daily. I set the gains and such with a 45 hz, 0 db tone at 40/62 on the volume of my 880prs with no bass/eq adjustments. For most daily listening, the volume of the HU is between 17/62 and 23/62. For burps it is at 40. I do not use the loud option, and eq settings are almost always flat or bass reduced.
