By how you guys are saying this it sounds like glow plugs are diesel spark plugs, but this is not the case. Just to clarify this diesel engines don't use glow plugs as its igniter like a gasoline engine uses spark plugs. A diesel engine uses glow plugs to warm up the engine because when its cold its harder for the diesel fuel to ignite under compression.

IT's just a heating coil.... That is all....

the compression in the cylinder is high enough to create a ignition of the deisel fuel.. the glow plugs do warm up the cyl.. and also assist the ignition

After the motor is warmed up the glow plugs pretty much turn off. They really only play a huge roll in cold weather too. It makes it harder to start in warm weather if you have a bad glow plug but you can still get the motor running with out them if you have patience and a good battery... he tould me to ask him any kind of question... so i asked him how many spark plugs a diesl motor has..

also if the injector where to cause the ignition.... i find that hard to belive>

the fuel is SUCKED into the motor. SQUEEZED causeing ignition. Bang!. and blown out the exhaust..

i went to a tech school for power ecuipment and small engines..

That's good. People with specializations (even Marketing (which I think is weak due to its lack of quantative emphasis) tend to mock Business Administration majors as being wishy-washy and not committed.
