please follow the evolution of modern political thought starting with Machiavelli..
i actually took "Modern Political Thought" last year, and our first book we had to read was "The Prince" Probably one of the better classes ive taken here.

I took it as well. Excellent class IMO.

iirc it was Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Hume, Rousseau? or maybe Rousseau and then Hume.. i don't really remember.. i took it a couple years ago.

Also please compare and contrast the 'state of nature' as described by Hobbes and Locke.
you must be a political science major who took modern political thought because I had to read both Hobbes and Locke. But honestly since ive graduated, ive flushed all the poli sci stuff out of my mind, now it's time for law.

Nope on poli sci... I'm actually a sociology major who just finds poli sci interesting enough to take courses as electives //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I took this class... I dropped it, I was sick of the professor lecturing us his liberal expose.

"If you were in a boat and saw someone drowning would you save them or row past"

My answer, "If you pick everyone up in the boat won't your boat sink, then you will be screwed too?"

I hate UC sometimes....

here is a brief summary..

Hobbes = state of nature bad thing. "where every man is enemy to every man" and "the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short."

Locke = state of nature good, but no protection for personal property.

and thats all the time i have right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
