Are you a ported or sealed fan?

hey i have a 13w7 and i wanted to know if porting it would really make much of a diffrence. I always hear a lot a hype around it so i just wanted your opinions on it. Such as your personal experiences with the diffrence b/w ported and sealed. One question i have is, Will sq be lost from porting but spl be gained. and other of your commenrs aside from dis ques would b helpful 2 aightt thankz!

i think there is a pretty big difference when the system is decently loud. the ported is more for loudness, while the sealed is more towards sound quality. I am more of a ported box fan.___Yes SPL will be gained while on the other hand SQ will be lost on a ported sub.

Right now I'm building a sound quality comp. car with two subs in sealed enclosure. All I need is the midbass and I'll be done. However, I am going to start building an spl car real soon thats going to be sporting 4 15" L7's with a ported box. I want to put it in a metro, but don't know if I can make it fit inside IASCA rules. We'll see.

If you port low enough you usually don't notice much change the the "SQ" of the sub.

Ported. Played around with sealed for a number of years...got a good sealed box made...tuned it properly...will never turn away from ported again. A loyal fan here. Ported go boom very loud like.

i would port it... my friend had 2 12's that arent that good at all but when he switched them from sealed to ported the difference was huge...i have sealed only because my trunk wasnt large enough for the ported...but ported is the way to go

Yeah I have my 10W7 in a sealed enclosure right now and I am getting a ported bass competition box custom made for my car. It will take up half of my trunk but sometimes you have to sacrafice for that loud deep bass. PORTED IS THE WAY TO GO. Sealed boxes trap air inside of them so you can't turn them up very loud. Ported lets all that air out resonating those deep notes!
