So far, my options to choose are between the Skar Audio vd-10 ported or a quad setup of Skar Audio evl 6.5" subs sealed.ive kinda been looking into 6in subs for behind the seat of my 97 F150 Reg cab and thought about those same 6in subs the O.P. used, but after seeing he wasnt happy with the seat position I know I wouldn't be either as im a big guy lol. I have yet to hear a shallow mount sub worth anything! Buddy of mine had an installer swear by Phoenix Gold's shallow mount but after blowing 5 subs on 300w and in a recommend size box I told him they were junk as far as im concerned. Ive never been a JL fan, feeling they were always overpriced and overrated.....but maybe Ill have to give their shallows a try.....
got an account at Crutchfield and really thinking about getting a tw3 10". I f I do, should I port it?try the jl audio tw3 shallow subs. they are great and play low bass. tons better than their ****** tw5 subs
you can port if you wanted to. i just built the boxes a little larger but sealed to get a little more output from them. the subs are nice and play low in the recommended enclosures. for ported i would suggest .85cuft over the .6cuft they recommend.got an account at Crutchfield and really thinking about getting a tw3 10". what size sealed enclosure would you say to build for one of these? My amp does 400@2ohms. Wanted to go for the dual 2ohm cause my amp does 600@1 but don't see the dual 2 on Crutchfield site.you can port if you wanted to. i just built the boxes a little larger but sealed to get a little more output from them. the subs are nice and play low in the recommended enclosures. for ported i would suggest .85cuft over the .6cuft they recommend.
Curious why you don't like the TW5?try the jl audio tw3 shallow subs. they are great and play low bass. tons better than their ****** tw5 subs
in my experience .6-.7 sealed works great. not much larger than recommended from JL. they are only dual 4ohm. 400w per sub will be good.what size sealed enclosure would you say to build for one of these? its a waste of money for the performance you get from it. the tw3 subs blow it out of the water.Curious why you don't like the TW5?
the bass from the sub is not what one would think when looking at them. the surround is super large for a shallow sub but does not produce the bass one would think. i know the surround does not dictate how much bass but it does aid in the amount of movement of the cone. when trying to get some low notes from them it is if they are non-existent. the customers that bought them and the shop owner and installers were not impressed either. for $600 it should be way better.Care to elaborate?
