Are amps made in the year 2000 considered old school

RF and MTX still make good amps, on par or better than a lot of popular stuff on here like Audiopipe, Cadence, Soundstream, any Maxxsonix amp, etc. Granted their older stuff was better, some of their new lines are still good...just probably not worth the price compared to other companies.
this is very true...i find it funny when someone gets bashed on here for running RF or MTX, by someone running a "online" brand. Sure, your dollar per watt ratio was probley much more attractive, but your amp is not likely any better then some of the newer rf/mtx offerings. At the right price I would absolutely run a rf or mtx. You may not be able to wire them to crazy ohm loads (.25, like Sundown), but at 1 or above they will perform just as well. Do people really think an AQ2200 is any better then an RF t-2001bd?

This topic about "old school" and "vintage" has been debated for years...I go for 90-mid 90's as old school and pre 90's vintage and I'm not sure what you call the later 90's and newer. As others have mentioned, the main difference with manufacturing was moving operations overseas during the late 90's and early 00's. Many of us prefer "Made in the USA" amps, not that they are better than the newer amps, but the fact they were built with pride here in America. My 0.02.

You guys forgot to mention Sparkomatic in your lists...often found on Kmart's "Blue Light Specials" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/waycrazy.gif.f4a380c3f94043939fd369defd9e6be2.gif

IMO, anything made by the original people (before buyout) would be old school like:

PPI, Orion, ADS, Hifonics, etc.

Then anything after that really depends. Say if I was to look at RF's old waffle style amps, those would be old school. The grind series and up would not be old school. Alpine's v12 MRV amps are old school, after that, no. Like Deeper Shades said, person's perspective.

so your talking the days of Proton amps that looked like a furnace, had 2 buttons one green and one red. I had that amp pushing 2 cerwin vega.
Like a furnace?!
