Are amps made in the year 2000 considered old school

Sure , i guess. The black/grind punch and power series RF amps were out then as were some killer MTX amps. Usually if a company used to make good stuff but now **** balls , any of the good older stuff could be considered old school. IE sony , rf , mtx all **** today but thier old school stuff was the ish.

RF and MTX still make good amps, on par or better than a lot of popular stuff on here like Audiopipe, Cadence, Soundstream, any Maxxsonix amp, etc. Granted their older stuff was better, some of their new lines are still good...just probably not worth the price compared to other companies.

The only amplifiers I remember having in 2000 were several Punch 250a2s, an Orion Xtreme 800.4, and a Rockford Fosgate 4.6x. The Rockford 4.6x and Orion Xtreme 800.4 were craptastic and both made multiple trips back to their respective repair facilities. The 250a2s were solid and did not give me any problems.

Now with that said, I wouldn't consider any of the amplifiers I listed "old school."

CRX owning the same model or considering making an offer in the f/s for them makes them oldschool, and that alone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Coincidentally it also makes them rare...

You are right , mtx makes the elite and rf makes the power. and if anybody buy's them retail i will supply the vasaline because they got seriously as/sraped.

I prefer older sony and PPI's over any amp if sound quality and true power is desired. But you have to admit post 2000 is when the quality of almost every respectable manufacturer went on a steep decline. Especially Sony!! Those First run Xplod ES amps and most anything they made before were flippin awesome. And thats why i think a amp made in 2000 or before could be considered old school because the quality reminds me that there was a time "back in the old school" when someone could actually make a amp that could impress me daily with new sounds and passages in my music that no run of the mill stereo amplifier could reproduce. I like it loud but i love to hear music the way the artist intended it to be heard. And not to many "new school amps" can achieve that feat.

I remember working for Sound Advice down in WPB with Audio Advisors next door, and then I opened the PBG store for SA.The store opening was wild as it was an old Luria's and there was 3 sick mobile room put together. We got to help assemble the Wintech ?(i think) boxes and boards. All touch screen to select components, and the high end room had a wall of subs. I remember turning the again not sure.. 225 HO orion on and had all 32 subs playing :p, the home audio guys loved us //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Back then we had all the old school. I still remember the day Best Buy on PB lakes started carrying Orion, I knew the industry was on the decline then.

Take me back to the days of MTX and Earthquake and my favorite Cerwin-Vega's. I could hit the local flea market and for $89 a sub brand new be bumping. Just thinking about that makes me want to contact SF Speaker Repair and get my hands on some old school Vega's.

i have a few old school amps in my collection...i'd consider 2000 still old school...pretty much most big brands are till they sold out....i think my Series X Hifonics Mars was the last series of true old School Hifonics...I've yet to see a series IX and I think the earliest I've seen was a V the Vii and Viii are the most famous

Marshall's Car Audio off Lake Worth Road in Lake Worth carried all Hifonics back in the day. That guy use to live out the back of his shop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I remember walking in and the glass classes having every classic Hifonics amp you could ever remember. God I miss those days.
