APSM-1500 has changed my mind..

I would put it under the hood and then eventually double up another yellowtop and throw it in the trunk. Best results that way I am betting.
Just got the d35 installed at Advanced Auto. I guess I won't be needing a bat under the hood for a very long time, so it's worth it. Knowing that if the resting voltage ever drops or the bat doesn't last under warranty I can just swap it out free of charge which is nice.

Was doing this before yesterday but, when the bass drops low the music stops for a second then plays again. I'm guessing bad amp ground? It's on the rear seat bolt. I fixed my ground for the headunit yesterday and seemed to of fixed it but maybe the amp just can't take the lows very well?

Did that happen with the BRZ, too?

Seat bolts are never good grounds.

This sounds like a headunit problem though possibly.

Heres a quick troubleshoot method I use..

Get a RCA to 3.5mm adapter at radioshack/walmart

Plug ipod directly into your amp.. your ipod (or whatever) is now your headunit.

Hmm so that just tests if it's the head unit or amp? Nice trouble shooting. I think my head unit ground might be coming loose when the bass hits really hard. Or it's my amp ground. Might relocate that and see what happens.

Grounds dont usually just come loose when the bass hits.. Trust me on that.. They are most likely just resisting

Yes.. plug a phone/ipod directly into your amp. Crank up a song and if it works, then you know its a problem with your headunit / signal.

If it still does it, you know your headunit is fine.

I'll see what I can do. I will find a better spot and sand to bare metal then fasten the ground to it like I did my big three chassis ground. Might hit up walmart for that RCA to 3.5 jack cord when I get off work.

as long as the ring terminal is underneath everything, and flush with well sanded sheet metal, i think it should be fine. On the other hand, most seat belt bolt grounds I've seen are done improperly.... in between the nut and the strap holder, on unprepped metal, etc..

How about some pics of your install, OP?

They are usually a body ground though.. not frame. Most seat bolts arent directly to the frame.

It's ghettoed up right now but I have only have the amp less than a day.

Amp ground:

the crimp is fu**ked up I know. But it's really snug, might not be getting the proper ground as it's not sanded on the bolt surrounding.

I noticed yesterday when I added my head unit ground to the frame inside of the dash it helped stop this stopping mid song. I also noticed the heatsink on the back of the headunit was super hot when I was testing with it out of the dash when I hooked up the amp for the first time.

It's not sanded, but it didn't give me any problems before. It's only at high volumes that it cuts out and then turns back on. I guess the ground isn't doing it's job so the HU cuts off or something.. Could a loose HU to wire harness to this? I checked everything yesterday and it seemed okay.
