apartment questions

Lots of things to consider:
Noise regulations

Parking regulations

Pet regulations

What's included/excluded in the cost of your rent

Cost of renter's insurance (if you have valuables, you might want to look into it)

Laundry (in suite ? shared ? if shared, cost and operational times ?)

Ease of access

Fire prevention/emergency routes (fire alarms, sprinklers, escape ladders, distance to stairwell, etc.)

Quality of insulation (no one wants to hear their neighbours plus quality insulation = lower heating bills if you have to pay for heat)

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS do a THOROUGH WRITTEN INSPECTION WITH YOUR LANDLORD BEFORE SIGNING ANYTHING !!!

Luxuries (games room ? exercise room ? pool ?)

Rent-to-own available ?

Included appliances ?

Size/layout suitable for your needs ?

Handyman always readily available including weekends and nights ?

Late rent penalties ?

I'm sure there are other questions you should ask, but that's all I can think of at the moment ...
That should have been the 1st response, lol! WinnAr!

I live in an apartment right now and have a family above me with 1 kid. We also have thin walls and floors, sometimes makes me wonder when he jumps if he wont be watching TV with our family. Anyway, we have actually gotten used to it and hardly notice it anymore. I guess once you bish so much and nothing gets done, all you can do is accept it as my landlord won't do shit! Honestly don't notice it all that much anymore.

I still can't wait to get a house sometime next year.

Yea went and saw the apartment today, but the one htat was $500 wasn't worth the 500 a month so we asked if he had any other cause he mentioned he owned 16 other apartment building all in like walking distance and he goes we have some for 400-450 that I can show you so we went and looked at them. Pretty decent but it's right in between Providence College and Johnson and Wales so it should be all full of college kids. But he says if you wanna have people over just go down into the basement and drink play beer pong etc.

He was only like 28-30 I'd guess. I'm probably gonna move in at the end of august or september 1....

Thanks for the info Jmac. I'm moving out of my house (of me and 4 girls) to a 1 room apartment in august. Finally can do whatever I want, when I want //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you're going to wait until right before school starts to secure an apartment?

You might want to secure something now when everyone is moving out instead of when everyone else is also looking for a place.
